@Lucas_Politics@rokhannacycle It's not weird, he's just saying that he's focused on rebuilding the country rather than in securing the presidency in a future election.
@SpaghettiKozak@StalkerGrunt1@TS8660615248066@fauxstonox He did, but that isn't a legal argument, and it was said by a man known for saying stupid things and then reneging on them. Nonetheless, this discussion was about the relationship between NATO and Chechnya, and Western governments affirmed that Chechnya was a part of Russia.
@StalkerGrunt1@TS8660615248066@SpaghettiKozak@fauxstonox But Chechnya was already a constituent republic of the Russian Federation, the Federation Treaty only recalibrated the relationship between the autonomous regions and the federal centre.
@TS8660615248066@SpaghettiKozak@fauxstonox I know, it was a rhetorical question. I don't see how Yeltsin fighting against a secessionist movement in Chechnya has any bearing on the existence of NATO. Chechnya had no right of secession, regardless of whether you think they should be independent (which is debatable).
