Field Notes: A predator native to Skull Island’s underworld, the Vinerat is a low-slung, mole-like megafauna adapted for life in perpetual darkness. Though most often found in subterranean tunnel networks, it occasionally surfaces into abandoned structures and caves, drawn to vibration and the scent of decay. Its muscular body is covered in patchy, scabrous hide overgrown with viscous vine-like growths, giving it the appearance of a creature half animal, half overgrown by the earth itself.

It hunts by sound and vibration, emitting a rasping chuff that reverberates through its environment before it strikes. When disturbed, it attacks with explosive speed in a blur of fangs, claws, and hanging vegetation erupting from the shadows of whatever dark place it calls home.
