@ZigZagWanderer0 @benjyminty@willnorman If you can't do 20mph on a regular bike why should you be allowed to do it on an ebike?
There is a discipline and responsibility that comes with the ability to ride quickly. And that's something that most ebike riders don't have.
@ZigZagWanderer0 @willnorman That's a backwards way of looking at it.
Reduce the speeds of drivers or ban them from roads altogether if you want safe infrastructure.
@Jbambury0@awjre@luton_paul@willnorman Yep. Ebikes are already putting people in danger due to being ridden by idiots who will insist on riding at max speed all the time.
@awjre@willnorman Using disabled people as a reason to change overall legislation is short sighted and disingenuous.
Disabled people can have exemptions for mobility purposes. Regular ebike shouldn't even be as powerful as they are.
@willnorman Ban them. People don't need cars or ebikes in towns and cities.
If somebody is frail or weak they can be am exception but for everybody else it's time to stop the arms race.
Ebikes certainly have no place on your average bike lane.
@E9Princess @ghq2001 No, what they need is investment and support from a government that's more interested in selling public land to overseas developers than ensuring that small business don't get priced out of their premises with astronomical rent hikes.
Here's somebody desperately trying to claim that cycling isn't on the rise despite there being a clear and huge increase in cycling.
...because local businesses are suffering due to overseas internet sales.
