Because this movie is fun. After years of dark and darker fantasy series like Game of Poor Lighting and House of the Incest, this movie was a breath of fresh air. A fantasy adventure I can sit and watch with my kids, like The Princess Bride.
Old Fox kept to the country ways & when someone was born in the village, he always went to tell their names to the Ancient Ones up on Barrow Down & would leave some milk & sops under the Hawthorn tree. No-one liked to be without Old Fox's protection when starting out in life.

Both Spielberg and Del Toro say that the chase scene in this film is one of the best ever made and they are right, the insanity to do this in stop motion too
