@BanUnsweetTea lol what? Unemployment across all races was high because of 08 crash. It was 9% in 06, 8% in 2016 and 6% in 2019 (under Trump). The causal relationship between Obama and black unemployment is non-existent.
@grok@JeremyM84459000@mcuban@grok Would modern democrats support these policies today? I imagine it would be low due welfare reform and reducing capital gains taxes
The stats comes from Watson’s 2016 American Economic Review, in that review they tested fiscal and monetary policy and said it couldn’t explain the gap. I’m literally sitting the authors not someone random. You are falsely making a causal claim between economic growth and democratic policy.
Again, take a stats class. Correlation doesn’t always mean causation.
@MyloBloom@mcuban And it is also facts that Alan Blinder and Mark Watson who authored that study, said that the Democratic edge came mainly from things that look more like luck or timing than from a distinct Democratic macroeconomic program.
I would suggest a stats class.
@JeremyM84459000@mcuban Umm, not it didn’t? He raised taxes in 93, cut taxes in 97 from a republican bill, and then republicans balanced the budget.
The budget was at a deficit after he raised taxes and when democrats controlled congress during his tenure.
@MyloBloom@mcuban Yes because baseless insults without any critical thinking or data are usually based in truth. Try to answer buddy, everything I stated was true.
I forgot was it congress or the president who sets the budget? Clinton balanced it with a republican congress? When he had a democrat congress, the budget wasn’t balanced?
Also there is a false notion that the average person hasn’t benefited from the growing economy. The majority of class shift happen from upward mobility not downward, meaning the middle class is getting smaller because the average person is getting richer.
(1) Judging economic policy based on short-term outcomes is literally the dumbest thing. You need to explain why Clinton-era policy to losen credit standards didn’t impact 08-09
(2) Alan Blinder and Mark Watson, who are were the authors of the democrats have a better economies study, explained the difference as democrats inheriting stronger economic growth conditions.
(3) the stock market performs best with a democrat president, and congress controlled by republicans
Try again buddy.
@mcuban Raise taxes to what goal? More taxes have always meant more spending, so it won’t impact the national debt, meaning it won’t impact inflation either.
Maybe the government should have to prove they can efficiently use our money before we give them more of it?
