@MarioNawfal Fortunately, sleep drive is so powerful that it's difficult for even the worst insomniac to not get at least core sleep on a reg basis, during which brain maintenance predominates. Yes, proper sleep is important, but so is reducing stress about it.
Correct only to a point and somewhat misleading due to the unclear reference to "sleep deprivation". Here's why: the brain's cleansing and renewal process occurs primarily during deep NREM or SWS, which is prioritized by our mind-body systems. Sleep drive is so powerful it is very difficult, even for the worst insomniac, to not get this basic brain cleansing most every night. Instead what typically gets shorted with sleep deprivation is REM or dream sleep -- not deep sleep. REM is still important for resetting our emotions and mood, but the sort of brain damage disaster implied by the post is misleading.
@thedebralea Fastest/best way is to use normal sleep schedule ASAP. Your body clock can adjust about an hour a day, so there'll be some body clock disruption.
