We’ve been quick to praise Pep Chavarría, rightly so. But Hato was fantastic today. Let’s not suddenly get stingy with the compliments.

@K_Bright01 @Oyo_Matters If Makinde channeled the energy he used to chase workers away in Elebu into monitoring his own state contractors, the 48km Ido-Eruwa road would have been finished in 2021. Stop attacking Hon. Oseni for speaking the undeniable truth.

[Hardboiled Sleuth @Sleuth_jp]

@71Samfkw4 @Elkrosmediahub He most certainly will. He is not only playing with our money, he's playing on our intelligence. He'll definitely pay for his crimes.

Senator to be, Remi Oseni For President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Sharafadeen Alli.❤️✌️

APC taking Over Oyo State.!❤️💯✌️

[Hardboiled Sleuth @Sleuth_jp]

Thank God you asked a question and not a statement, let me now educate you.

First, let’s establish a basic fact that Hon. Remi Oseni is a Federal Lawmaker representing Ido/Ibarapa East, NOT the State Government. Yet, to be candid, NO political aspirant across Oyo State can lace his boots when it comes to tangible, VERIFIABLE delivery.

You asked for significant capital and infrastructural projects? Here are just 10 out of many:

1. Facilitated and co-funded 31 high-capacity electrical transformers to restore light to communities like Apete-Olomo, Awotan, Lamini, Ido, and Oke-Oloro.

2. Procured N120M worth of commercial-grade earth-moving graders and payloaders to drive an 80-road rehabilitation network across the constituency.

3. Approved a N100M capital intervention for the comprehensive rehabilitation of roads serving seven PASOBBA communities.

4. Mobilised heavy grading machinery to open up neglected link roads, including the key Ogunremi–Olodo–Elenusonso transit corridor.

5. Delivered the completed Aba Paanu Health Centre to provide direct primary healthcare infrastructure to local residents.

6. Built and established high-tech, solar-powered ROSMA Smart Learning Hubs across Ido and Eruwa for digital skills and ICT education.

7. Injected millions in direct capital support toward the secondary school construction project at Elebu.

8. Executed a 50-motorised-borehole water initiative across communities including Oloje/Aba Oko, Aba Ado/Elewure, and Anko in Eruwa.

9. Delivered six articulated trailers with over 5,200 bagsof fertiliser and farm inputs directly to more than 7,000 local farmers.

10. Rolled out a N250M artisan empowerment fund for metal fabricators and technicians alongside his youth wealth-creation scheme.

Now show me your candidate's!

[H.E. Seyi Makinde 4 PRESIDENT 2027 @ibrulezz]

@Oyo_Matters Remi Oseni may think he’s being wise, but good governance goes beyond sharing money around.
What significant capital projects has he actually delivered?

Meanwhile, work on that road is already in progress.

These guys move around with guns, vandalize billboards, and paste their campaign posters over those of other political parties.

They have tried to intimidate me and my guys before over Remi Oseni’s billboard, but they met their match.

If you know you cannot participate in a political rally or paste campaign posters without resorting to intimidation and violence, then stay away.

Politics is not a do-or-die affair the way you're making it to look. Elections will come and go, but the peace and security of our communities must remain a priority. No political ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian.

@Oyoaffairs Say what you will, this man is very compassionate and generous.

This is a solid analysis, but it severely underestimates the unique dynamics of Ibadan politics and overestimates the "down-ballot" effect for the APM in a legislative race. The reality on the ground points heavily to Remi Oseni (APC) taking the Oyo South Senatorial seat, and here is why.

1. Oyo South voters are historically sophisticated ticket-splitters. The assumption that Seyi Makinde’s presidential or gubernatorial structure will blindly sweep Odidi-Omo into the Senate ignores the golden rule of Ibadan politics: Ibadan kìí ṣe ẹrú ẹnìkankan. Voters here frequently vote for one party for the executive and another for the legislature based on individual track records. While APM might have executive momentum, voters know that an APC Senator aligned with the Federal Government (President Tinubu) brings a massive advantage in attracting federal infrastructure to Oyo State.

2. The APM house in Oyo South is already openly divided. You cannot rely on a structural advantage when the very architects of that structure are defecting. Just recently, a major APM chieftain in Oyo State, Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan, publicly declared that he might back APC's Remi Oseni over his own party’s candidate, Odidi-Omo. Olopoeyan explicitly stated, "Mo ti mọ Remi Oseni kí Odidiomo tó mọ mí , emphasizing Oseni's deep, long-standing personal relationships across party lines. When top APM leaders are throwing their weight behind the APC candidate, Odidi-Omo’s supposed structural stronghold is actually sitting on very shaky ground.

3. You mentioned that Odidi-Omo represents the massive Ibadan SW/NW voting bloc. However, Remi Oseni has spent the last two years actively executing massive projects, installing transformers, grading roads, and funding multi-million naira empowerments, right inside Odidi-Omo’s own backyard. When a lawmaker from Ido/Ibarapa East is the one bringing streetlights to Ibadan SW/NW, the voters take notice. Oseni is earning the title of "Mr. Talk and Do" because his receipts transcend his own constituency boundaries, effectively neutralizing Odidi-Omo's home advantage.

4. The transition of the incumbent Senator, Sharafadeen Alli, to the APC gubernatorial ticket does not leave Oyo South open for the taking, it consolidates it. Alli is not abandoning his senatorial structure; he is handing his undefeated, highly organized political machinery directly to Remi Oseni. This creates an APC Alli-Oseni structural alliance in the metropolitan core that will easily match, if not overpower, the APM's ground game.

5. While political analysts hyper-focus on the Ibadan metropolitan LGAs, Oyo South also includes massive agrarian populations in Ido and the Ibarapas. Remi Oseni has an absolute lockdown on this demographic through consistent agricultural interventions, rural road grading, and direct grassroots engagement. He will win Ido and Ibarapa by a landslide, and his aggressive infrastructure push in the city center will fracture Odidi-Omo's numbers.

Ultimately, 2027 in Oyo South won't be won by simply hiding behind Governor Makinde’s coattails. It will be won by the man with the heaviest personal track record, the strongest cross-party alliances, and the most tangible impact on the streets. Right now, that man is unapologetically Remi Oseni.

[FRANCIS @FrancisAdeboye]

Again, the 2027 Oyo South Senatorial District election, majorly between Odidi-Omo of APM and Remi Oseni of APC, will turn to be the most fiercely contested legislative election in Nigeria.

Below are some key factors that make the 2027 Oyo South Senatorial race exceptionally interesting:

1. Oyo South Senatorial District is traditionally viewed as the political nerve center of Oyo State, encompassing the state capital, Ibadan, and possessing a huge voter population that often determines the political trajectory of the whole state.

2. There’s a massive political vacuum in Oyo South created by the ambition of the incumbent Senator, Sharafadeen Alli, to run for governor of Oyo State under APC, thereby triggering intense jostling among top-tier political heavyweights for alignments and realignments with the top contenders as Oyo South is open for fresh faces and permutations.

3. Oyo South consisting of 9 local government areas, comprising the main metropolitan core of Ibadan (Ibadan North, NE, NW, SE, SW). With Governor Seyi Makinde finishing his second term in 2027, the structural control over Ibadan’s massive voting bloc is up for grabs. So the senatorial candidate that is aligned with the strongest gubernatorial campaign will have a massive structural advantage.

4. Odidi-Omo and Remi Oseni are both sitting Members of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ibadan SW/NW and Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituencies respectively. So they both possess a stronghold (2 LGs each) within the Oyo South where they would be contesting. Therefore, winning by a landslide in their respective strongholds would be first step to victory for either of them.

5. Down-ballot effect: Referring to the tendency of a presidential candidate to influence voter turnout to vote for same party's candidate for other office. With Seyi Makinde as APM’s Presidential candidate and Tinubu as APC’s Presidential candidate, both Odidi-Omo and Remi Oseni have strong Presidential coattails to ride on for their election.

THEIR STRENGTHS

Odidi-Omo:
1. Being APM’s candidate for the senatorial seat, he is strongly aligned and a down-ballot to Governor Seyi Makinde (incumbent Governor and the most popular politician in Oyo State) who is widely loved in Oyo State.

2. Asides the 2 LGs that he is currently representing in the House of Rep as his stronghold, his party APM is representing a total of 7 LGs (4 of 5 federal constituencies within Oyo South) with their Reps seeking reelection in 2027: Agboworin (Ibadan NE/SE), Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (Ibadan North), Adepoju Anthony (Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North), and Odidi-Omo (Ibadan SW/NW - Hon. Akin Fagbemi contesting in 2027).

3. Voting population and voter turnout from his federal constituency usually outweighs Ibarapa East/Ido.

4. Against all political odds in 2023, Odidi-Omo survived the Tinubu wave in Oyo State. Odidi-Omo is extremely popular.

Remi Oseni:
1. Being a down-ballot to President Bola Tinubu, might be favorable to him.

2. Remi Oseni is insanely loved and popular in Ido. He is most likely going to win by a landslide there.

3. Being APC’s candidate for Oyo South, he is strongly aligned with the incumbent Senator and APC’s guber candidate, Sharafadeen Alli.

Ultimately, the 2027 Oyo South Senatorial race will not just be about electing a lawmaker. It will serve as the ultimate litmus test for which political party controls the heart of Oyo State politics ahead of the guber election, making it a crucial, high-stakes battleground.

I think Odidi-Omo (APM) will take this election.
