In 1952, St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 was founded to create the first full-time paid fire department on the north shore in St. Tammany Parish.
On June 9th, Jefferson Parish Firefighter Lieutenant Dennis Casey was laid to rest. Our Honor Guard represented and showed support, Alan Novak, Joel Truett, Albert Evans, and Larry Martin. They joined the procession with Engine 11 and FP17. We are proud to stand with our brothers and sisters to honor Lt. Casey’s service and sacrifice. The fire service is a family that goes beyond department lines. We Stand Together. Please keep the Casey family, friends, and colleagues from Jefferson Parish Fire Department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Rest in peace, Lieutenant. We have the watch from here. #SlidellFire

Rookie firefighter Trey Icamina went all in!
L16’s crew responded to a duck rescue on Canal Bank Dr., and Trey didn’t hesitate — full duckling rescue mode from start to finish. Fins in the water, safely reuniting the little ones with their family.
Great job, Trey! We’re proud of you and the entire L16 crew for looking out for our feathered friends. Safe to say, it’s officially that season! 💪🚒

Today, in partnership with the Slidell Firefighters Local 2455, we presented a check for $2,150 to STARC of Louisiana, Inc., raised from the campaign proceeds. Special thanks to Roy Bingo Supplies Inc. for sponsoring the vehicle wrap, and Tommy St.Clair Designs for the awesome design and wrap that was on the vehicle this year. 🧩#SlidellFire

Engine 17 responded to Ashton Parc for an important call — three ducklings had gotten stuck in a drain, separated from their very stressed-out mama! One of our rookie firefighters Ryan Welch just completed his first official save… and it was a duckling rescue! The crew carefully fished the little guys out and reunited the family. Mama duck was pacing nervously the entire time, quacking up a storm, but once her babies were safe and sound? Total mom win — she was one happy duck! #SlidellFire #Firefighter

Here’s a message from our Chief of Training, Tim Harrison.
Thank you, Slidell! 🙌
We just wrapped up our 24-hour treadmill run honoring fallen first responders and military families. Even when the treadmills were full, people were still running around Headquarters. The support was amazing!
Huge thanks to everyone who came out, cheered us on, donated, or honked as they drove by — especially Slidell Police and Acadian Ambulance. We also had a special visit from 4-year-old Bear to help out again!
Shoutout to Tim Harrison and Norman Loustalot for each doing impressive 50 miles each and set this up!

Every mile and every dollar helps provide mortgage-free homes for the families of our fallen heroes.
We were blessed with virtually no rain the entire event… and right as we finished, the bottom dropped out!
Thank you, Slidell!!

Do you know this pup? 🐶 This morning, a passerby noticed this pup stranded on an island near the Bayou Paquet Bridge. Our team at Station 15, along with DC1 and FP17, devised a plan using a 24' extension ladder to get the pup back on land safely. A Good Samaritan is fostering the pup in hopes of finding the owner. If this is your pup, please contact us; we'd love to reunite you!

We’re on the scene of a trailer fire off Highway 11 in the Alton area.
Fortunately, nobody was home at the time and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire has been determined to be an accidental electrical fire.
This isn’t what your electrical panel should look like — check out the video at the end.

Today, Wednesday, May 27th at 9:00 AM, the Slidell Fire Department (St. Tammany Fire District #1) kicked off our 24-hour treadmill run outside Headquarters to honor America’s fallen first responders and military families.
We’ll be running strong from May 27 at 9:00 AM until May 28 at 9:00 AM at 522 Robert Blvd, Slidell, LA. Firefighters will rotate throughout the full 24 hours.
Come out and show your support! Stop by, cheer us on, and help us raise awareness and funds for Tunnel to Towers Foundation. All responders are welcome to join in including Slidell Police Department and St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.
🍩 Donuts can be available if you need a little motivation 😉
Every mile, every hour, and every drop of sweat goes directly to providing mortgage-free homes for the families of our fallen heroes.
When our own Fire Prevention Officer Taylor Bass passed away, Tunnel to Towers stepped up and paid off his mortgage — helping his family stay in their home. That’s the kind of impact we’re supporting.
Can’t run? You can still make a difference. Scan the QR code or click the link to donate in honor of our heroes.
Let’s show what Slidell Strong looks like — honoring the fallen, supporting our first responders, and standing with military families.
Every mile matters. Every sacrifice matters.
See you out here! 🔥

On August 10, 2025, approximately 5:15 AM, our crews responded to a serious crash on I-10 East, where a vehicle had flipped over. Upon arrival, crews were informed of a possible second vehicle that had left the roadway and overturned in the underbrush/tree line.
Once located, crews used the Hurst Jaws of Life to successfully extricate the trapped occupant in a critical rescue.
For their exceptional efforts, the personnel involved received the prestigious Hurst Jaws of Life Green Cross Awards — an honor given to those who have used Hurst tools to save a life.
As part of the recognition, the rescuers had the chance to meet Meagan, the survivor from that morning’s accident.
Congratulations to all the firefighters and first responders involved — true heroes who train hard and perform when it matters most! Thank you HURST Jaws of Life and Darryl Foret Specialist and Hurst LA Salesman Johnny Leblanc with MESFire!
Personnel awarded are as follows:
Captain Chris Frazier
Operator Dylan Estain (not pictured)
Captain Ryan Gaudin
Operator Jon Miller

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, let’s pause and honor the incredible sacrifices that have secured our freedom.
We remember the brave men and women — and their families — whose selfless courage shaped our nation and continues to protect the liberty we cherish today. Their heroism will never be forgotten.
Wishing everyone in our community a meaningful and heartfelt Memorial Day.

🦆Ladder 16 responded to Carmel Valley Drive for two ducklings trapped inside a storm drain after becoming separated from their mother. The tiny victims, later identified as “Quackers” and “Sir Waddlesworth,” found themselves in a dangerously precarious situation with no obvious way out.
Making the call even more memorable, it happened to be Firefighter Alex Mahne’s very first day on the job. While most rookies spend day one learning where the coffee pot is, Firefighter Mahne was immediately thrown into emergency duck rescue operations alongside Firefighter Grant Robicheaux.
Working together, the two firefighters safely retrieved the ducklings from the storm drain and reunited them with their mother. Pictured after the successful rescue are Grant Robicheaux on the left and Alex Mahne on the right holding the grateful — and slightly dramatic — survivors.
Not a bad way to start a firefighting career: first day on the job and already making saves. 💪#SlidellFire

Fire Prevention Officer Mark Cambre and Fire Operator Justin “Rocky” Mitchell suited up in full gear for the 5K at the 5th Annual Avery Natal Memorial Scholarship Foundation Run/Walk!
Every year, St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 aka Slidell Fire is proud to be a part of this special event and to fly the flag.
Wow, what a great turnout that helps keep Avery’s legacy alive through this meaningful run. The community that runs together, stays together! Let’s all remember Avery, everyone who lost their lives too soon, including our men and women who served and gave their lives on this Memorial Day weekend. Never forget. 🇺🇸

Today during the heavy rain, several ducklings got swept into a storm drain off Oak Tree Drive. Station 16’s crew from the Eden Isles Station quickly responded and safely rescued the ducklings from the drain.
Great job for taking care of these little ones and reuniting them with their mom! 💪
It’s the little rescues that make a big difference.
