Does anyone know this lady who was beating her dog (a ginger Cockapoo) on the causeway at Staines about 2pm (possibly Saturday). When approached she was drunk out of head and really abusive..the poor dog had its tail between its legs …someone must know her. Lucky she didn’t get beat herself.

Indonesia has officially become the first country in Asia to implement a nationwide ban on elephant rides and unnatural performances.

This historic animal welfare milestone was formalized by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through Circular Letter No. 6 of 2025, which was issued in late 2025 and became mandatory in January 2026.

The directive marks a significant shift from exploitation-based tourism to ethical, observation-based models. The ban outlaws elephant rides, circus-style performances (such as painting or playing soccer), and forced interactions like bathing or close-contact photo sessions.

It effectively bans "the crush" (coercive training), the use of bullhooks, heavy saddles that cause spinal damage, and the use of chains.

International organizations like PETA Asia and World Animal Protection have praised the move as a precedent-setting decision, urging neighboring countries such as Thailand, India, and Nepal to follow Indonesia's lead.
