I lost my wallet in Tokyo. Like fully lost it. Cards, cash, everything was in there and I was panicking.
Went back to every place I had been that day. Nothing. Ended up at the police station to file a report, not really expecting much.
The officer asked for my name and where I was staying, then checked lost and found.
Came back holding my wallet. Everything still inside. Cash untouched, cards there, even random receipts I didn’t care about.
I was in shock. Asked where they found it. He checked and said “Family Mart, Shibuya. Employee turned it in about 20 minutes after you left.”
I went back to that Family Mart to thank whoever found it. The employee wasn’t there, but his coworker said he’d pass the message on.
I asked for the guy’s name so I could come back and thank him properly. The coworker looked confused and said “he doesn’t need thanks. Returning a lost wallet is normal.”
Like it was the most normal thing ever. Of course you return it. Why wouldn’t you?
Guess I’d been in the US too long. Forgot some places still treat doing the right thing like it’s just standard.

It’s so funny how white people can do hip hop and Black people accept them with open arms and make it go viral, but when Black people do pop or country, no matter how good it is, they literally act like it doesn’t exist.
