@Pebble@Pebble For anyone ordering a Round 2 this week: does 'ships in December' mean early December or closer to the end? Wondering if it can land before the holidays.
Pebble is back, and @Pebble says this time it has no investors. Eric Migicovsky, who launched the e-paper smartwatch on Kickstarter in 2012, runs it with a small team, and the software is open source.
Newest: Pebble Round 2, a 1.3" color e-paper screen in an 8.1mm steel case.
@Pebble From Pebble's store (checked Oct 13):
• Round 2: $199, new orders ship in December
• Time 2: $225, in stock, ships within 48 hours
• Both work with iPhone and Android
• US orders pay about $10 tariff per watch

@kepano From https://t.co/kbZoruYglg (checked Oct 17):
• Renders every diagram type built into Mermaid 12.1.0
• 230 kB gzipped vs 1.6 MB for Mermaid.js
• 0.05–0.3 ms render time vs 6–82 ms
• Free and open source (MIT); try it in the browser playground
https://t.co/kbZoruYglg
We featured Obsidian earlier this month: no investors, paid for by its users. On Sat, CEO @kepano open-sourced Pele, the diagram renderer coming in Obsidian's next version.
Pele's site says it's up to 500x faster than Mermaid.js, with a 6x smaller bundle. https://t.co/WIbvJZlWM5
This is Pele, my new rendering library for diagrams and charts, compatible with the latest Mermaid syntax.
- 100-500× faster than mermaid.js
- 6× smaller bundle
- No dependencies
- Easy to theme
- Responsive to device width
In pursuit of making Obsidian insanely fast and cohesively designed, I always found the Mermaid library to be too big, too slow, and too hard to theme. Pele will be the new renderer in the next version of Obsidian, but you can start using it now.
Pele [ˈpɛlɛ] is named after the goddess of volcanoes and fire. It's open source under the MIT license. Try the playground!

In 1917, a Kentucky coal miner asked a traveling salesman for a snack "as big as the moon." That's how @MoonPie began.
Chattanooga Bakery still makes about a million a day, it says, and the Campbell family still owns it, with the fifth generation now in the business.

Many AI note-takers join your meeting as a bot. @meetgranola doesn't. It uses your computer's audio, and you jot as much or as little as you like while it writes the notes.
Its new Snapshots feature adds the slides and charts people screen-share to those notes automatically.
