I spent 6 days reading papers for my review.
Found 24 studies. Read & felt productive.

"So what's the actual gap?" my supervisor asked.
I froze!

Reading papers and identifying gaps are two VERY different skills. Nobody teaches you the second one.

So I built myself a simple table based on Robinson et al.'s research gap identification work.

Four categories. That's it.

Insufficient Data → Less studies or tiny samples
Quality Issues → Bias, weak methods, poor controls
Mixed Results → Studies pointing opposing directions
Wrong Focus → Right topic, missing characteristics

I started filling this out WHILE reading. Not after.

Every paper now gets tagged with a gap type and specific details. My future self stopped hating my past self.
