Today, @NITAUganda1 in collaboration with @Smartideasug convened a high-level stakeholder engagement at the @innovationhub that brought together key players from government, the private sector, development partners, civil society, academia, and organisations representing persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The session served as a powerful platform for open dialogue, rich experience sharing, and the co-creation of practical, sustainable solutions aimed at fostering a more inclusive digital ecosystem in Uganda.

Building on the recent three-month ICT skills training programme that benefited 38 persons with disabilities under the UDAP-GovNet project, today’s engagement focused on identifying gaps, exploring innovative approaches, and strengthening multi-stakeholder coordination to ensure equitable access to digital opportunities for all.

At @NITAUganda1 we are committed to ensuring that no one is left behind in Uganda's digital journey by progressively working towards a more accessible and inclusive digital Uganda.

VIDEO: @NITAUganda1 , under the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project (UDAP-GovNet), @MoICT_Ug and Smart Ideas successfully conducted a targeted skilling program aimed at equipping people with learning disabilities and persons with visual impairment with essential ICT skills.

The program focused on practical training to enable participants to effectively use digital tools, adaptive technologies, and assistive solutions empowering them to:

✅ Improve their daily lives,
✅ Advance their education
✅ Unlock new economic opportunities.

Such an initiative comes at a crucial time when digital literacy is a prerequisite for meaningful participation in society. As we accelerate digital transformation, we remain committed to ensuring that no one is left behind especially young people with disabilities who possess immense talent and potential.

The ICT skilling program for people with learning disabilities and persons with visual impairment, organised by @NITAUganda1 under the UDAP-GovNet project, in partnership with the @MoICT_Ug and Smart Ideas culminated in a wholesome graduation ceremony which saw each participant proudly receive a Certificate of Completion.

Witnessing their determination over the past few weeks and achievement was truly inspiring, marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s journey toward digital inclusion and demonstrating that with the right support and opportunities, persons with disabilities can fully participate in and benefit from the digital economy.
