@healy_trader@ZacharyDonnini@YalePolling I wouldn’t have believed it, but I saw a headline on a Canadian magazine that says the same thing.
Bizarre, to be totally frank.
@MountThord@ONT_Dad Sounds like you didn’t fully read OP’s tweet.
No prices will drop if the tax is “axed”, they will remain the same.
Companies have so much profit right now, they don’t give a shit about the common person anymore

@kirbman23@gator_gum@BarbaraBierman The hike in prices has little to do with the government (surprisingly), except perhaps to show that there are not nearly enough regulations to prevent corporations from doing exactly what they’re doing now, which is gouging consumers to make themselves even richer
@YOWzers613@gator_gum It's really hard to have a conversation about what is happening in this country while a very solid segment simply pretends that Covid wasn't even a thing.
@BrandonTozzo Incredible that in a time of increased need for Public Health services and messaging there is constant pressure to silence it. It’s hard not to believe that it’s being done to aid the desired narrative of political interests; to make problems ‘go away’, before elections.
@TheLongScore@gator_gum Jfc corporations don’t give a shit about people, they only care about money.
You lower their taxes, they’ll pocket the difference and still raise prices, then shitcan their workers.
Pay doesn’t match cost of living now, so “prosperity” is unattainable for most, working or not
@feck_me_running@gator_gum@bugsy40945394 Almost every answer has been a slogan, not an actual answer - “cut taxes” how? “Bring Canada back together” how? “Eliminate the debt” how??
@karir26@DigiCAS7@gator_gum Same in Ontario. In both cases? Conservative governments.
Lib governments have their issues, but housing/costs aren’t caused by them, and def not SOLELY Trudeau’s fault (sometimes he’s a bonehead, but certainly not a tyrant)
So, to my conservative friends... Let's say you're right. Let's say Trudeau is directly and solely responsible for every issue in Canada today.
If elected, what do you think Poilievre will do to to fix the issues that Canadians are faced with today?
@Autistic_Lia Through the loving attention of my elementary school friends and my family doctor.
Good thing, too, because otherwise it could have been mistaken for laziness!
@ALeague87295 @MoiraBlacke @fps_hannah I had this (metaphorically) beaten out of me, especially with Covid - too many people just not giving a shit basically squashed most of my empathy
We discussed HEPA filters & ventilation, testing & masking around your pet if you have Covid. I explained how a layered approach is the most effective. His reply? “That really sucks. I don’t want anything to happen to my dog. But that’s way too much work.” /3
