I was going to build two websites for a multimillionaire. I am sure his business was making around 50 million a month.

I sent an invoice of 1.8 million, but his assistant reduced it to 800k, saying Oga wouldn’t pay.

When the invoice reached him, he called me personally and asked me to lower it to 600k, saying it was too high. I stood my ground, and we agreed on 400k for just one of the sites.

On the day we launched the site, I joined their team celebration dinner. It lasted less than two hours, and the restaurant bill was 420k.

He literally paid for a one-night dinner that cost more than what he paid me for three weeks of work

When we wanted to buy a domain, the one he liked was $80, he paid for two years upfront, that's over 200k

I realized he wasn’t concerned about the money; His goal was to keep me small.

I got a job after I had my first son and had to leave for training. It was the first time my son was going to sleep without me and I was worried how he will cope. He was just two years old.

I called my mum who was his guardian one evening crying cause I was beginning to feel the effect of the separation and was seriously considering going back home.

My mum asked me just one question. She said “what do you remember of me what you were two years old?” And in truth, i remembered nothing. She told me that if I fail to put my finance in order now, my son will ask me what I did with my youth when my mates were building their career.

That was all the motivation I needed to complete my training.

I am particularly sharing so single mothers know that you can bounce back, Keep working Hard
Keep praying Hard, LIVE within your means always, Never compare yourselves with another woman or someone else for that matter.
Ask for help and never be ashamed of your hustle.
Train your children financial discipline and NEVER be scared of saying No to them . Holidays are rewards of good grades and I plan ahead for them by paying £300 monthly towards financing it. Bad grades equals No holidays, nothing is free. So they work so hard and are generally well behaved, cultured and disciplined.
I have slowed down on hustling now due to health challenges but we are not completely out. God is sufficient. Above all Be intentional with your Gratitude to God , You are not the worst off , trust me on that.

I'm not shutting up anytime soon, foreigners in Nigeria earn way too much for a country that is so poor, & we also face racism, these foreign "experts" are also racist.

I have suffered racism from an indian in my own country. He hated Nigerians & didn't like that my English was good and I wasn't scared of him, He called the supervisor whenever he sees me and told him I speak too much English.

After working from Monday to Saturday for 15k naira per month. I was 16 then I had to hustle because my parents didn't have much.

Nigeria needs to fix up.

I've recruited an entire team twice in the past 3 years, and I've also consulted for founders on the continent looking for high quality affordable talent. It's very well known across Africa and beyond that if you're looking for high quality African talent that will work like their life depends on it and won't cost an arm and a leg, you go to Nigeria.

Nigeria lacks lots of things, but qualified, talented people who are ready to work their ass off are not among them. I've seen it first hand. Except you're looking for an astronaut, there is literally no vacancy you cannot fill in Nigeria. Anyone who says they "couldn't fill job openings" in Nigeria is a bloody liar.

It's simply not true and there's nothing to argue about.

Go to many bank’s HQ on the island, you’d see dedicated staff buses moving “expatriates” from their hotels (that the banks pay for) to the office and back. Meanwhile, there’s no such provisions for their indigenous staff members.

These guys get paid in dollars, don’t eat Nigerian food and send back their earnings to their country.

And trust me, I’ve worked with them and I can say many of our Nigerian technical engineers are as solid.

Nigerian employers don’t just rate Nigerian employees like that, it’s a common problem.

My former workplace if you miss a day, it’s minus 2,500.

I took proper permission from the owners cuz I never miss work, and when it was time to pay, the admin removed my money.

Told her to send the company’s account and I would refund their money, cuz I didn’t need it for that month then. ( In retrospect it was disrespectful, but at that moment I was so mad, cuz as how, after all the energy I put in.)

Lmaoo, owners called me to resolve things amicably. After resolution they posted me to the farthest branch, and refused to give me money for transportation.

It’s was my punishment for being rude to the admin, and according to them, shey I had a car as an intern, I don’t need transportation allowance cuz I’m a big boy.

But their operational base is in Lagos.

So let’s call it what it is.

They are hiring in Nigeria, paying in naira, while the headquarters sits in the UK.

The CEO wakes up in London, goes to the office, grabs his morning coffee, pays rent in pounds…

while the workforce powering the system is earning in naira.

And the Customers are Nigerians

I can point to at least two engineers Moniepoint rejected as “not good enough.”

One is now a Senior Engineer at Amazon. The other works with a Silicon Valley company, shipping solid code.

This isn’t a talent problem. It’s a hiring process problem.

Moniepoint CEO is looking for the typical employees he will pay peanuts but take their soul. Nigerians have so many bright people but will you pay them what is acceptable globally?

The biggest issue is his point is he didn’t say what his requirements were. If he is so sure let him genuinely say what he offered. You would will be shocked that it might not have anything Globally acceptable. Can he actually afford to pay people weekly, per hour; pay them wholesome benefits; provide medical insurance; travel allowances etc because that’s global standard. I fit turn Q if he can
