Absolutely. We’ve somehow allowed ourselves to freefall into this world where anyone with a smartphone can essentially ruin someone’s life because they have an opinion. Virality has ruined public interactions and it’s time we start setting precedents that just because you have an opinion of someone or their actions doesn’t constitute that person losing their career. Of course this philosophy doesn’t fit every situation but a woman refusing to vacate an assigned seat on a flight is hardly a reason to whip out your phone and start filming. I’d be curious what we’d see if people started filming the filmers in these situations.
