@TonySeruga I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Yolanda. What an incredible love you had and will always have. Praying your pain gets a little lighter 🙏🏼 🌹❤️
Some Thursday thoughts
Sometimes I think people look at an older person and all they see is old.
They see the gray hair, the wrinkles, maybe someone who shuffles a little or walks slower than they used to. And somehow they forget that the person standing in front of them has already lived an entire lifetime they know absolutely nothing about.
And that person you’re getting impatient with because they’re walking too slowly? Maybe they just had surgery. Maybe they spent the last week in a hospital bed and today they’re simply grateful to be back on their feet and out in the world again. You don’t know.
That old man you barely notice might have been a young soldier once, scared to death and doing his job anyway.
That older woman you dismiss might have raised a family, buried people she loved, survived things that would knock you to your knees, built a career, served her country, saved somebody’s life, or changed somebody’s life.
She danced. He fell in love. They had adventures. They made mistakes. They worked, struggled, laughed until they cried, took chances, and once looked in the mirror and saw the same young face you see in yours today.
You have no idea who you’re looking at.
Age doesn’t erase the person who came before it. It just means they’ve had more chapters.
So maybe quit looking at older people with disdain, impatience, or like they’re somehow less relevant.
You aren’t looking at “just an old person.”
You could be missing out on someone who knows and has been through much more than you know
@Owennfa Just stop. There are conventional loans with 1% down, very low PMI, also 3%, 5%, etc. And FHA loans with 3.5% down and sometimes lenders will grant help with closing costs. VA loans with 0% down. Do your homework, stop parroting talk points, talk to a few lenders.
@Reganpatryk@__0HOUR1_ You make a great decision to invest in your home at a great 5.5% rate.
The median historical average for a 30-year fixed mortgage in the United States is approximately 7.23%, so you are well below that! Kudos to you!
@Savsays Can you please post your parents income at the time they bought their home? Oh, and their mortgage interest rate at the time? These are important details that are intentionally left out of the conversation 🙄😒
@BluScr3n@__0HOUR1_ Yep! I've been saying for these past 6 years that the influx of people into this country is the reason for the housing crunch. They have to live somewhere. People keep blaming Boomers. 🙄
@MickInTheIsland@ThrillaRilla369 THIS ⬆️🔺️⬆️
When people compare to the prices of homes 30 years ago to today, please include the interest rate data. When I bought my 1st house it was 12% interest. Yes, 12%. Also, paychecks were less, too. Stop complaining and buy something to start building equity.
@CecilyTynan This is the "equity" you all love - absolutely should be merit based to get a "finisher" medal. This is the perfect example of merit going by the wayside and watering down the accomplishment of all true marathon finishers. You reap what you sow.
@DakotaLandCattl@facetioussoup@TONYxTWO Yes! Homes were smaller, easier to maintain, no cable needed either. There are buyers that would never buy this kind of home....they want everything or it's nothing.
