My mom has a little notebook where she writes down every movie she watches and a few of her thoughts about it. I told her about Letterboxd & she said "does everyone need an audience for their hobbies now?"
In 2023 I became obsessed with videos of dads in cargo shortswaiting in parking lots during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. So when she came to town, I grabbed a camera and headed down to talk to them. I thought it'd be funny. It turned out to be something else entirely.
Mandates to return to office has nothing to do with productivity & everything about control. This is class war. The people in power will not tolerate workers to have freedom or autonomy, or gain any sense of enjoyment/fulfillment from their work. That kind of stuff isn’t allowed.
If there's a political point you want to take away from the Doc that's actually useful, it's abouthow DEI can be both important and effective at bringing in the most talented staff. Taylor was open about how she used DEI (without saying the word) as a major criteria for selecting her dancers. And despite what the critics say, it didn't get her "unqualified diversity hires." It got her the best of the best.
Kam's story really highlights that. He was consistently passed over as a dancer, not because of his talent, but because he didn't fit a prototype that people had in their minds of what a dancer should look like.
But when given the chance, he thrived. The Eras Tour would not have been the Eras Tour without Kam. He became as integral to it as any person not named Taylor.
And that, children, is what DEI was originally envisioned for. Not to exclude people, but to include people, and to make sure your search for the very best staff isn't limited by industry biases.
My dad was one of the Eras Tour truck drivers who received 100k dollars from Taylor as a bonus. Because of her, we paid off old debts, covered my university tuition, and now we’re living a beautiful life. We’ll forever be grateful to her.
There is something ironic about Travis, a man, refusing to take credit for being Taylor’s creative muse because he has so much respect for her while a bunch of miserable women sit on the internet and give her exes credit for all of her work
disclaimer I haven’t listened to a Taylor swift song in like 10 years but I’ve just seen so many brain dead takes on this albums success that I gotta say something lmao
billboard only counts 4 physical sales per customer and 1 digital sale per week fyi and her building a fanbase (off of music) dedicated enough to actually PURCHASE her music should be nothing but admired
yalls favorite artists fake their STREAMS and do not actually SELL shit lmao and yet she’s being clowned for building a fanbase so dedicated that they BUY her music. yall are fucking idiots and have the game backwards 😂
so when taylor swift uses modern vernacular she’s millennial and cringe but when she’s verbose she’s a pretentious try hard but when she talks in direct language she’s basic and boring
the reason ive always ended up generally on taylor's side even before i started appreciating her music is that she really brings out a very unique specific insanity in people that is so disproportionate to anything she has actually done lol
