@TheRiversEdgeAB This is very strange. Yesterday I had some major players telling me I shouldn't be pissed off and Smith and should just be patient and let this pan out. I wonder if anybody them telling me to be patient have told Mitch the same thing.
So just so I'm sure, who of us is allowed to, as you put it, throw a tantrum at Smith. I spent countless hours taking signatures, all the whole being given the finger, sworn at, threatened, and being called a traitor. I've dam well earned the right to be pissed.
All the while some of the leads have said, just keep pushing forward, we got this. All the sudden, when another roadblock cones up they then say this was expected!
We act like there is all the time in the world. Don't you realize that Carney has put some of us in the edge of bankruptcy! What Smith did is nothing short of a Carney MOU, a promise of something that will never happen. There is only one saviour, and that's if we have a quick appeal and overturn of the court order and have the signatures counted in time to get OUR question on the referendum. There won't be anything left of Canada and Alberta by 2028. Dam right I'm pissed
@ABDanielleSmith You know when you lost me? When you decided that every public announcement about Independence had to start with "I believe in a Sovereign Alberta within a united Canada and that's how I'll and my caucus will vote". Maybe you're not away but the people elect officials to represent them, not so you can continually tell us how you will vote. I used to think you were just saying that to ward off the likes of Nenshi and to calm your base that are on the Forever Canadian side of things. Now I can see that what you're really doing is sending a message to Carney to satisfy him that you're now a federalist.
Like all the questions you have on the referendum, you could easily make those decisions yourself.
You had 700,000 indications that the people want a vote on this, one way or another. You're announcement last night certainly catered to the Forever Canadian side while thumbing your nose to the Independence side.
What you actually did was give the Independence side a good old Carney MOI, and we all know how those go. The good old bate and switch play.
Well, I'm done. I've got my UCP membership ready to go. We will be looking for a member of your caucus that is pro independence to take over your job at the next available time, hopefully not under a AGM, but a SGM if those in your party have the stones to get it done. (you didn't really think that all of your caucus is behind you did you, how very Liberal of you to think they will blindly follow whatever you tell them to do.
I'm out!
I had patience when I was standing on the side of the road in freezing temps, getting the finger and sworn at to collect signatures. I had patients when the courts ordered a temporary order to not cointvrhevsignatures. I had patients when we were waiting for Smith to make her announcement. I lost my patients as soon as she started with "I believe in a sovereign Alberta within the United Canada and that's how I'll vote". I have no patience left to give.
It’s become very apparent that @ABDanielleSmith has stabbed her base in the back just as she did with the Wildrose Party.
She needs to resign, NOW.
She won’t.
So we need to organize to boot her.
She will be disposed of just as Jason Kenney was.
They are on the same team.
Buy a membership in the @Alberta_UCP ASAP.

Absolutely right! Of all the major players for Independence, so far Jeff Rath is the only one I've seen that's not switched to the "be patient" mode. We keep talking like we have all the time in the world. Every day Carney brings out another policy that screws with people's rights. Smith is just pushing this to the point where we have lost all freedoms and there is no longer a chance for Independence.
@monaleezadesign@JeffreyRWRath That's for an independence referendum. This is a screwed up question to ask if we want a referendum and has nothing to do with the Clarity Act. This equal to a Carney MOU, meaningless and a stalling tactic.
@sarobertson_ Federal polling yes. Boots on the ground Canvassers know what the real numbers are. Based on the honks and thumbs up vs middle fingers I'd say closer to 60% for Independence. If it was only 30% the left wouldn't be so dam afraid of losing the gravy train.
Personally I think we are taking this too lightly. If Smith orders a referendum under the Forever Canada question, if we all vote no they will say the question was unclear and won't count. Unless Smith orders the referendum under the Stay Free Alberta/APP question this won't turn out the way we want it to. From what I heard she will be announcing in Friday so we will have to see them what happens.
@RickBellwrites If this is going to be in the Forever Canadian question, we will vote no then it will be said to not be a clear question and won't pass the Clarity Act. This is just another attempt to stall a pure independent vote.
