I love art but famous paintings are the biggest money laundering scam in the world

How often do we see paintings go for $10's of millions just to sit in a private collection

[Yonan @yonann]

Sylvester Stallone says someone tried to sell him back a Monet painting for $130 million that he originally bought for $110,000

“You could buy Picasso, you could buy Renoir. These are very famous paintings. Francis Bacon, $75,000. And then I would sell it for $3,000,000. Not bad, right?”

“Ten years later, 12 years later, guys come back and try to sell it to me for 75 million. I’m not joking. So the point is, if you’ve got art, don’t sell it unless you have to pay the mortgage, because it’s appreciating. You don’t have to feed it”

“I had a collection that you can’t replace because of the shift in finance. It’s unbelievable. This one Monet, it’s $110,000. It’s called the Haystacks, right? I paid like 110. Guy wanted to sell it back to me for 130 million”

It's pretty obvious that the "video games industry" is going to be a boutique hobby for the wealthy within 10 years.
