You’re describing a pretty common phenomenon that causes investors to lose large amounts of their money.
You felt like you were allowed “in” on something privileged and bigger than anything an average person gets access to. That set you down a path of confirmation bias and emotional attachment to your investment. Every positive development felt like validation, every negative one felt like an opportunity, never anything truly negative. That can last for a long time. Until it doesn’t.
