@Battle1482776@libsoftiktok Why is it racist? No one cares where they are from, just that they are here illegally. If they are illegals from Switzerland, I don't want them here. Take your race baiting elsewhere.
@libsoftiktok This is no surprise. There was no way they were going to ignore precedent. It was always going to be a long shot. The next best thing is the SAVE act and border security.
The Saturn V was so ahead of its time that we mistake a loss of political will for a loss of technological capability. NASA didn't stop going to the moon because they forgot how. They stopped because Vietnam, Watergate, and inflation shifted government priorities. Plus, people lost their appetite for it - the common phrase was “why are we going to the moon when (fill in the blank). Enter commercial spaceflight. The rise of SpaceX isn't an accident—it's the market solving a problem that government budgets walked away from decades ago. Private industry can do it cheaper, but that capability took 40 years to mature.
We went six times. We stopped going primarily because of budget cuts, and we had been there, done that. It’s not cheap to go to the moon. The whole Apollo program was scrapped. They went to the reusable Space Shuttle program. The moon landing deniers want so badly to believe they know something no one else does. Those that were alive back then for the most part believe we went - who would fake a moon landing six times? We still have a spacecraft on the edge of our solar system from the 70s. It’s not that hard to believe.
The reverse would be true, too. American football is not nearly as popular in Europe as it is here, despite all the international games. As far as the ratings, American football draws from an audience of about 350 million. No one is saying soccer isn’t popular. That would be ridiculous. It’s just not as popular here.
@3agle3yedAlex@Sharat44540198@DefiantLs I am talking about soccer in America, not internationally. Of course soccer is hugely popular outside of the US. So is cricket. Here, not so much. That was the point.
@ValentinaForUSA@thewriterme@TMobile@Verizon@ATT@Mintmobile@PatriotMobile Verizon’s no better - lost a loyalty discount last month despite being a customer on autopay with multiple devices for over 20 years. I have been thinking about loyalty a lot lately, and when it comes to big companies, it’s often a one-way street.
@3agle3yedAlex@Sharat44540198@DefiantLs Really? NFL sees second-highest regular season average viewership since 1988 at 18.7M, up 10% from 2024 https://t.co/0HtQ1vXWHu
Look, pulling in viewership numbers that barely match a standard, regular-season NFL game isn't the flex you think it is. A lot of that initial spike is just the novelty factor, and while the numbers will obviously bump if the US advances, let’s look at history. The Miracle on Ice was one of the biggest moments in American sports history, and it still didn't turn hockey into a dominant national pastime. If you love soccer, awesome - enjoy it and I hope your team wins. But pretending the World Cup is a major cultural event for the average American is just kidding yourself, and sponsors falling over themselves to jump on the bandwagon when they probably don’t even know what stoppage time is is pathetic, really.
Like I said, I’m not watching, so everyone else can check their own gag reflex. The only good thing that has come out of it was showcasing America to the world. I do enjoy the videos of tourists seeing America, although there is more to American than Texas BBQ. They are welcome to return, even welcome to become citizens the legal way if they want.
Really? It may be popular as a weekend activity, but so are a lot of things. It is not a major league in the US. Everywhere you look, World Cup, this, World Cup that, everyone trying to cash in. It’s the same with the Olympics. No one gives a shit and then Tampax is the official sponsor. I open Google and there’s a graphic above the search bar. It’s everywhere. Don’t tell me they aren’t jamming this down our collective throats.
@GMA I am sad to read this. Played for the Cardinals for awhile. One of the fastest players in NFL history and one of the few that have rushed for 2000 yards. This sucks.
@MmisterNobody@Red_Pill_US Yeah, we faked it SIX times. The moon landing deniers want so badly to believe they know something the rest of us don’t. Same with flat earthers, cut from the same cloth.
@MmisterNobody@Red_Pill_US OMG - yeah, we never had pictures from anywhere but our neighborhood the next day because had to develop film…are you kidding?
