Heather Morris was Beyonce's main backup dancer who was brought in to teach the Single Ladies choreo for an episode. They decided to keep her around as a choreographer and background extra... At least until they realized she could both sing and act too. At that point she slowly turned into a main character.
This is what I mean by the magic of the show being, to a degree, an accident. Like half of the original mains were hired to be something else, or were hired last minute and had their characters written around their talents mid-production. That sort of magic cannot be replicated, which is part of why the 2nd gen cast fell so flat.
2nd gen cast was good, but corporate. 1st gen cast was organic.
Happy 55th anniversary to John Stewart, whose resume includes Marine, architect, and Green Lantern. That's already three more qualifications than most of us have, and somehow he still has to deal with the rest of the universe's nonsense. Our John Stewart, Aaron Pierre brought all of that complexity to the screen in LANTERNS. John Stewart first appeared in GREEN LANTERN (Vol. 2) #87, written by Denny O’Neil, with pencils by Neal Adams and inks by Dick Giordano.
Happy 85th to the sensational WONDER WOMAN!
Forever a foundational figure in the tapestry of the DCU, and someone I'm always thrilled to write. So excited for what Weezie and Stephanie do with the Themysciran lore next year!

DC announces 2027 will be the 'Year of Wonder' with Louise Simonson and Stephanie Williams taking over ‘Wonder Woman’.
They also promise more Wonder Woman announcements throughout the year.

Wonder Woman can take on gods, monsters, and just about anything the universe throws at her. But one of her greatest strengths has always been her ability to see the humanity in people who have forgotten how to see it in themselves. Happy 85th anniversary, Diana. She made her first comic appearance in ALL-STAR COMICS #8, written by William Moulton Marston, with pencils and art by H.G. Peter. @DCWonderWoman@DCOfficial
The fact that we went through a studio shutdown, restart, engine change, and game reboot and we're still here, wanting to do right by the franchise and the fans.
We get it. You want the sequel. Good news is that it's coming in 2027. We showed it at Summer Games Fest and to press over the summer. Thanks for you understanding and your support.
