@MartineMinet Thank you Martine. We had a difficult day in prospect. The breakfast time visit from the owl lifted our spirits and got our morning off to a very good start.
@hceedee Thank you Heather! The Owl has made fleeting visits twice before and stayed just long enough for a glimpse. This time it was kind enough to stay on the fence while I frantically searched for my camera.
@norfolkwren We've glimpsed the Barn Owl on our fence twice before, but on those occasions it flew off immediately. This time it stayed long enough for me to run to get the camera and take several pictures. A great start to our day.
@acorncarver Yes, they're not very large birds, but they do have a big presence.
(We're hoping our next unusual garden visitors will be Waxwings! Our one tree is bedecked with halved apples in readiness)
On this very cold morning there were a lot of birds feeding in our Norfolk garden. Then this Sparrowhawk arrived, and all the birds departed - even the gulls. Two hours elapsed before hunger overcame caution and the birds began to return.
@christheeagle1 I agree - it's a different place now. I've tried the two most popular alternatives recently, and although follower numbers are low, engagement to follows ratio is a lot higher.
@Jon_Clifton78 An otter - Wow!
You could try leaving food and water out.
On nights when the hedgehogs leave leftovers, the biscuits get damp by morning. Damp biscuits are just what Ducks, Blackbirds and Corvids like to have for breakfast, so nothing's wasted.
@Jon_Clifton78 A neighbour recently had a hedgehog visit her garden for the first time too. It would be nice to think they're thriving and increasing in the village.
(The ones that visit us are very fond of GoCat kitten biscuits)
