Died Suddenly is the New Normal.

Facebook Friend posts that her 22 year- old son died of a heart attack and he had been dealing with heart issues for the past year.

Another commenter casually posted that she lost her son about a month ago, had no known health issues and suddenly died from a heart attack. He was 24.

Another commenter said that her niece in Charlotte, NC died in April from a heart attack. She said that she was in her early 20s.

Someone comments…”That’s why you have to enjoy life while you can. You only live once. I hope they all enjoyed great vacations.”

I stopped reading.

We are being faced with the reality that those we “lost” to Covid are not the only ones that we have LOST to Covid.

Connecting the Dots doesn’t exist.

Curiosity doesn’t exist.

Cognitive Impairment is so apparent to everyone witnessing this but the people who are experiencing it.

A major home insurance provider just canceled my neighbor’s policy because a drone photo showed "excess moss" on his roof.

He paid premiums for 14 years without filing a single claim.

He spent $800 hiring a professional crew to pressure wash the roof and sent time-stamped proof the next day.

They refused to reinstate the policy unless he paid a 40% rate increase on a new policy.

Property insurance isn't risk management anymore.

It's an automated extortion racket that uses aerial surveillance to drop paying customers the second climate risk hits their bottom line.

Fascinating that the stupid “open letter” has been so widely condemned. The equivalent about Yugoslavia in 1999, or Iraq in 2003, or Libya in 2011, or Syria between 2011 and 2024, would probably have passed without much comment. Taking a solidly anti-imperialist position in those instances meant being in a very small minority.

What’s different now? There are many factors, of course, including that people can learn from their mistakes. But the decisive element is surely that Iran is dealing a historic blow to the US and Israel; that the courage, determination and strategic brilliance of Iran’s war of defence – plus the obvious militant unity of the Iranian people in support of their sovereignty – are a source of inspiration and an ideological lesson for the people of the world.

The fact that any individual can “rubber stamp” or “green light”‘something by virtue of their stature, status, reputation, esteem, etc. is a problem for several reasons, one of which is that it diminishes our responsibility to critical thinking and rigor.
