Happy Birthday to Scottish former snooker professional Robert Stephen, 42 today.
On the pro tour during 2006/2007 and 2008/2009, Stephen reached the last 64 stage of three ranking tournaments. He reached a highest ranking of 82nd. In 2002, Stephen won the European U19 title.
Prior to turning professional, Andrew Norman won the English U-17 (1997) and U-21 (2001) titles. He now competes on the World Seniors Tour.

Happy 46th birthday to English ex-snooker professional Andrew Norman.
Norman had three stints on the pro circuit between 2001 and 2015. He reached the last 16 of the Grand Prix in 2005 and 2006. Norman reached his highest ranking of 42 for 2007/2008.

Scottish snooker player Eddie McLaughlin was born #OTD in 1952.
Turned pro 1981, reaching 54th in the rankings & last 32 of the 1984 Classic. Broke his back in a 1986 car crash, then tragically left in a coma after a 1989 incident with sadly no prospect of recovery.

Stephen Maguire beat Mark Allen 10-6 to win the Coral Tour Championship. 🏆This was Maguire's first ranking title win in seven years. The event was staged at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes.

Happy 55th birthday to Grimsby ex-snooker professional Karl Broughton.
Turning professional in 1991, Broughton had a great run to the quarter-finals of the 1996 International Open. He would reach 41st in the world rankings for 1997-1998. Broughton's pro career ended in 2001.

The new professional snooker season got underway with Ryan Day 🏴 beating Stephen Maguire 🏴 5-2 in winning the Riga Masters. 🏆 This was the Welshman's first World Ranking title. Maguire's 119 (frame 5) was the highest break of the final.

Prior to turning professional, Jack Lisowski won the 2010 English Amateur Snooker Championship, convincingly beating ex professional Leo Fernandez 9-2.

A snooker professional since 2010, Lisowski claimed his first ranking title at last year's Northern Ireland Open. Currently ranked 17th, he has been as high as 10th.

Happy 53rd birthday to Oxfordshire former snooker professional Justin Buckingham.
With his pro career spanning 1991 till 1998, Buckingham's best ranking tournament performance was winning five matches in reaching the last 64 of the 1995 World Championship.

Happy 72nd birthday to Irish ex-snooker professional Tony Kearney. 🇮🇪
Irish Amateur Champion in 1981🏆, Kearney was a professional from 1984 to 1996. He would reach the last 32 of the 1987 Mercantile Classic and was ranked as high as 65th for the 1987-1988 season.

Preece played on the pro circuit from 2003-2004, 2006 to 2010 and 2016 till 2018. He twice reached the last 32 of ranking tournaments • 2009 Welsh Open and the 2016 English Open.

Ian Preece reached a highest professional ranking of 55th in 2008-2009. Prior to turning pro, he won the 1998 European U-19 Championship. The 1999 Welsh Amateur Championship, & the 1999 World Amateur Championship at 17 years and 147 days, he was the (then) youngest champion.
