Should you stop signing once a child replaces it with a word?
No! ❌
It's important to keep using signs alongside words to help your child make the next steps.
If you stop using the signs with the words too early it can cause your child's communicative abilities to regress 🙊
Did you know...?
Using Makaton to accompany you singing and telling
stories is a great way to get your littles ones used to
the signs.
The repetition and tone of voice really attracts their
attention.
Here's one of our favourite songs from class!

From now on I’ll only be using my other account @ebaggaley for sharing everything signing related as well as my children’s books. If you’re not already, head over and give me a follow.
This is a fraction of the garbage my child's has been receiving for 2 days now. Reported it to @instagram yesterday, they say "it's not against community guidelines." So @instagram racist abuse & death threats "not against community guidelines?" Review your guidelines & fix this
@Telegraph I’m pro choice but women are being railroaded into terminations because of a high chance of DS. Fed up of hearing about the tragedy of ‘perfect’ children being terminated. I have a ‘happy, beautiful, perfect, healthy child’ who happens to have DS as well.
Did you know I am also the author of 4 children's books focused on mental wellbeing exploring emotions and championing diversity? @ebaggaley
Maya and Ava also have a TikTok channel where they post songs they sign together! @sisters_sign_together
#InclusionMatters
I first learned Makaton to support my youngest daughter in her communication, making me realise the value of signing to remove frustrations and understand her needs and as a vital tool to support her speech development.

Instead of throwing it out straight away, why not make a sensory box out of your old wrapping paper? The paper makes excellent crinkle noises and ripping sounds and can be tossed around a room easily!

OK technically this was a charades video but I couldn't think of a better way to say, from my family to yours, MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Thank you for all your support this year! Here's to 2021 being bigger and better!
