@sharbel PS: I wrote a paper on CAPTCHA and reCAPTCHA many years ago. But I’ve known for a long time, even before then. Like you said, at first it was altruistic. But later, each time I identified a crosswalk, traffic light, or bus, I felt twinges of apprehension, misgivings, & resentment

@sharbel But billions of people get to benefit from Google Maps for “no charge”. While that’s not nothing, I’ve pondered this calculus of value received versus given quite a bit. My biggest concern has been the data will be used to “discriminate”: e.g. Instacart dynamic pricing and worse.

@sharbel In a nutshell: I’ll do something or give something if I get something of sufficient value in return. That’s the Faustian bargain that I’ve made. But I’m still afraid and dismayed that the value and the eventual costs for me and everyone else are much more against us than for us.
