The current prevailing opinion is that the immune system is ‘primed’ which is why it can run in family’s just like allergies. However this then requires an external trigger and viral stress is a big one

Covid is currently believed to be a trigger so this is actually not all that bad a medical take, ignoring the 3 years thing
