(Full story 🔗👇) Isaiah Thompson did a breakdown of what Kendrick Lamar shouting out Lecrae would mean. “I wonder what Lecrae would do?” 🧵1/5👇#kendricklamar#lecrae#watchthepartydie

Between the songs “Deconstruction” and “Reconstruction,” Lecrae seemingly deconstructs a Christianity defined by whiteness and reconstructs a Christian reality exhibited by Blackness.
I wonder if the CHH community gets it?
Is “deconstruction” by @lecrae a song about Christianity or a song about whiteness?
Maybe both.
Where the deconstruction of Christianity is explicit, the refutation of whiteness is implied.
@BigSwissCHH@Rapzilla I’m not writing another article here. You can read my work and agree or disagree. Go read Amos 1 if you want the scriptural motivation. I also find it hasty to claim eternal truth on every cultural debate. These are my meager opinions.
@josephrandall@Ameen_HGA This is hateful my brother. We need to approach religious discourse differently. I didn’t even click that link. Calling someone’s religion “wicked” is just downright unhelpful.
@Ameen_HGA Yeah. Lots of histories and empires to consider when thinking about that specific land area:
Assyrian Empire
Persian Empire
Roman Empire
Byzantine Empire
Ottoman Empire
@Ameen_HGA Could be that. But it might be privilege too.
How many Christians touted the same energy: “we never knew about social justice until 2020.” I guess they’re fessing up.
@RungirlPs91 @Ameen_HGA@johnnarae This is an inaccurate statement.
See “Islam and Politics” by Mandaville, “The Many Faces of Political Islam” by Ayoob, or “Unholy War” by Esposito for discussions on Hamas, the PLO, and their relationship with Gaza.
@Ameen_HGA True. But they are incredibly helpful for complicating the “anti-Zionism = antisemitic” logic. There is also an element of racial stratification around Jewish identity in America and Israel. Baldwin was unsure what side of the Israeli wall he would land due to being Black.
