While Piyush Pandey ji will always be remembered for his unforgettable iconic ads [Fevicol, Cadbury, mSeal], my personal favorites are the two national integration campaign songs he created with with Suresh Malik, coined the timeless “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” and its majestic follow-up “Baje Sargam Har Taraf Se, Goonj Ban Kar Des Raag.”

A truly remarkable achievement in the Doordarshan era, these weren’t just songs, they were emotions, anthems India singing to itself.

Mile Sur carried a charmingly populist filmy flavor, but Des Raag elevated the idea to a whole new level. It was a brilliant coming together of India’s finest ambassadors of culture, music, and dance, woven together with the magic of our greatest classical instrumentalists of our times.

What a Feat!
