Working with Schools in Leeds to ensure they are welcoming places for asylum seekers and refugees and helping them gain the Schools of Sanctuary Award.
Conversations From Calais in Schools!
We’ve started giving talks about the project, how it became a book and how young people can get involved in the refugee rights movement in the UK.
If you’d like us to come to a school near you, email [email protected]
New school term! Will your school sign up to be a School of Sanctuary? Congratulations to Allerton Primary and Leeds City Academy who received their awards from the Lord Mayor of Leeds at the end of the summer term with other Leeds' schools present .
It's World Book Day! I read 'The Lightless Sky' by Gulwali Passerlay recently and it opened my eyes to the reality of being a child refugee from Afghanistan. What an incredible read. @SchsofSanctuary
Stand with Joan, the Holocaust survivor who stood up to Suella Braverman, and join the over 30,000 people signing her open letter calling for change.

No one should ever lose their life trying to reach sanctuary, @SuellaBraverman.
But without safe routes, people are left with no choice. Make sure there are no more deaths in the Channel.
We need #SafeRoutesNow
Beautiful, colourful and welcoming Christmas cards made by children at Coop Academy Leeds for men seeking asylum and living in a hotel in Leeds. Thank you!
We must act NOW to create safe avenues for people who have been forced to move by the impacts of climate breakdown.
With @migrantsorg & @JCWI_UK, we call on world leaders to take immediate action by creating just & welcoming policies.

I've just signed @FreefromTorture's open letter to the airlines asking them to stand against forced flights for refugees and rule themselves out.
Will you join me?

In fresh research we launch today, we reveal the fact that hundreds of refugee children in the UK are being mistakenly judged by the Home Office to be adults. As a result, these vulnerable children are being placed at risk of abuse and neglect. THREAD🧵#ChildrenNotAdults
@refugeecouncil I have just read 'The Lightless Sky' by Gulwali Passarlay. He was only 13 but was judged to be 16. He even went through one interview which was a standard adult interview with no support.
“Intercepted migrants crossing the Channel in small boats will no longer be deemed ‘illegal entrants’ but ‘arriving passengers’”
Great to see this coverage in the Telegraph - we hope all their readers take note.

Hey @PennyMordaunt, the Rwanda scheme is brutal. It tears families apart, destroys lives & flies in the face of international law & human decency.
Everyone knows it, now you need to say it.
Say you'll #LeadWithCompassion: scrap the Rwanda plan.
