Our student model picture shows a progression from a Petter industrial engine to a Spitfire, which Westland made 700 under licence between 1939 and 1945 up to an EH101 helicopter. The first pre-production EH101 helicopter was rolled out in 1987 (Credit - Leonardo).
The Westland Lysander was a British aircraft that served in the Second World War. It was a high-wing monoplane design with an enclosed cockpit and a fixed undercarriage. It was mainly used to pick up/drop off agents or stranded aircrew from behind enemy lines.

The Pterodactyl was a British tailless experimental research aircraft that was developed by Captain G.T.R. Hill in the 1920s.
The glider prototype gained official interest and was fitted with a Bristol Cherub engine, but never entered production.

A collaboration between poet Beth Calverley (founder of The Poetry Machine) and Yeovil Community Heritage Group, South Somerset Heritage Collection, which we thought to share for Somerset Day!
