Honestly awareness alone isn’t enough.
What truly matters is consistent management. Too many people ignore their medications, skip routine check-ups, and maintain unhealthy lifestyles, only to face preventable complications later.
I have seen cases where you literally beg patients to take their medications.
You people need to understand that people with disabilities and visible differences are actual human beings.
Some will be funny, some will be sweet, some will be difficult and MANY of them will hold opinions you strongly disagree with. That is literally the point of being human. Human beings in relationships will have flaws. They will say things you don’t like.
We cannot be calling someone “less” or dragging their disability into conversations, as if interacting with them is some charitable act. It is not.
As y’all are “angry” about this conversation for your personal reasons, be seeing road. This stereotype is so so harmful and unnecessary and it even hurts women with disabilities the most.
The moment you begin to imply that because someone has a disability they must meet every societal expectation to “deserve” their partner, what you are really saying is that their humanity must be performed to earn basic acceptance.
I know women get “upset” over conversations like this but let me tell you something, when we push narratives that suggest a person with dwarfism, for example, must behave a certain way to be “worthy” of their partner, we are reinforcing a framework that will come back to punish EVERYONE with disabilities very harshly. Including women with disabilities.
Research and lived realities consistently show that it is even women with disabilities that face greater barriers to partnership and social acceptance. Everyone thinks they are doing them a favour by being with them. We do not need this in big 2026.
After my 30+ years on earth, one thing I know is that people like who they like and there isn’t much you can do about it. If you like sacrifice and give your head. It won’t change much. This cuts across employer- employee relationships, platonic love and romantic love.
I encourage you to gravitate towards people that actually like you.
Happy Valentine’s Day
I offended my wife this evening. She went quiet and focused on her work. I knew she wouldn’t talk.
When she stood up, I walked up behind her, hugged her, and said, “I AM SORRY.”
She smiled and said, “Okay,” and then she started gisting me about our school career day coming up on the 13th of February.
“SORRY” is a powerful tool in marriage. Learn to use it but don't abuse it.
Suicide
Today, let me tell you a crucial observation I've been researching about suicide
If you have ever, at the slightest period in your life, thought of committing suicide at some particular lowest periods of your life, then you should quickly start putting a mental health system in place in your life.
Suicide would first flash through your mind in the quickest of ways.
It will first come as that quick option, to which you will dismiss it immediately.
Now, you will dismiss the thought faster, because you believe your situation isn't worth "considering the option of suicide"
.
.
Until that period where everything crumbles.
Nothing works
Everyone leaves
Financial life down
Love down
Meaning and purpose down.
.
.
That's when suicide will flash through your mind again, and this time, based on the current phase you are in, your mind would start factoring it as a possible option.
And in this phase, you might have already isolated yourself away from people around you.
So as you are deliberating the option of suicide, you are doing so in extreme isolation and inside thinking.
Giving yourself reasons why that option might be the best
And unfortunately, no one is around to give second opinions.
So each passing day, the option of suicide becomes more grounded as the best choice.
.
.
Now, at this phrase, you will enter a state of aggressively justification.
To take your own life, isn't an easy thing.
Your brain naturally protects you from harm.
So for you to now consciously harm yourself, it means you would have to sit your brain down and lecture it on why suicide is best for both of you.
By aggressively justifying the act.
.
.
For instance,
You brain would say "But people care about you"
You would say "No one has checked up on me for the past 24 days"
Your brain would say "But your work pays you well and you can buy what you want"
You would say "I am not fulfilled doing the job anyways. I'm not happy in the workplace"
Your brain would counter again and say "But your children love you so much"
You would say "My mother would take care of them, when I leave"
.
.
.
So your brain now works with that lecture, drops all it's coping mechanisms and defence strategies, and enters a state of compliance.
.
.
.
At this stage, the person is a walking dead.
They have made up their mind and it's now a matter of when.
It takes a very strong pull to remove them from this state. A very strong consideration.
.
.
.
The best stage to help out is the stage where they are still lecturing their brain.
When they are still trying to justify the act.
That's the best time to influence their thoughts and make them change their mind.
.
.
.
Now, if you are at a stage or you've been at that stage of lecturing your brain on why suicide might be an option, then you really need to see a mental health professional.
I will drop some official suicide prevention phone numbers of various countries below.
They will work with you detailedly and put you through a proper mental health procedure.
.
.
They would have a more detailed procedure than what I would give you, if you come to me.

I would be making more posts on my findings about mental health.

Actually, nobody likes you when you're depressed. Plain and simple. We can talk all day about mental health and how important it is, but the moment you are depressed, people start to distance themselves.
They see you as negative, a burden, and someone too heavy to handle.😪
‘Talk to someone’
What people don’t always understand is that depression comes in stages.
There is a stage where you still have the mental capacity to reach out. In that phase, talking to someone can genuinely help, sometimes it can even pull you back from the edge.
Then there is another stage where suicidal thoughts begin to surface, but a thin thread of hope still exists. This is the stage where people tweet cryptic message ‘bye guys. I tried my best’ or even text friends in the middle of a suicide attempt. A part of them is still hoping someone will notice and arrive early enough to pull the rope away. Many attempts at this stage end up failing, precisely because that hope hasn’t completely died.
And then there is the final stage of depression, THE MOST DANGEROUS ONE. At this point, the person does not want to be saved. They leave no clues, no messages, no room for interruption. There is no call for help. No one knows anything is wrong until they are gone.
In that stage, the person can still laugh with you, joke with you, and appear happy and bubbly. Nothing about them looks broken, so no one thinks to check or tries to stop them.
‘Talk to someone’ ends after the first two stages.
Depression goes beyond just talking to someone. At some point, even the people that say you can talk to them will get tired and it doesn’t even make them bad people.
Mental health struggles are no joke
I have been there, lived it, and struggled to find the light
I will never forget the doctor's look when I opened my eyes
Now I live with the permanent damage of my decision
It is not a joke and no the person is not seeking attention
It is an illness that they themselves wish they didn't have
I don’t even know what to say anymore
Fuck it mehn
i don’t talk about this often, but with everything happening lately, I feel like it’s important to say it.
on 21/10/2020, i almost took my own life. Not because I wanted to die, but because my mind had completely worn me out. I was dealing with a mental breakdown I didn’t even know how to explain to anyone.
i felt overwhelmed, tired, and stuck in my own head, and it reached a point where living felt heavier than leaving.
at that time, my thoughts were constantly against me. every small mistake felt like proof that I was failing at life. i kept replaying things I could have done better, things I should have been stronger about, and it made me feel like I was a burden instead of a person.
on the outside, everything looked normal. i was still online, still tweeting, still laughing sometimes. but inside, I was quietly falling apart, and no one really teaches you how to ask for help when you don’t even understand what’s wrong with you.
that day, it felt like everything came crashing down at once. i remember thinking a lot about my mom and how much I loved her, and at the same time, feeling like I had disappointed her by not being “strong enough.”
in that moment, my mind convinced me that people would be better off without me. that’s how distorted things get when you’re not okay. so I tweeted, “Tell my mom I love her.” i wasn’t trying to be dramatic or get attention. in my head, that was me saying goodbye.
after I tweeted it, I didn’t feel emotional. I felt numb. and that numbness is dangerous because it feels calm, like you’ve finally stopped fighting.
i had already accepted whatever came next. But then something happened that I still think about till today. people noticed. mutuals I had never met in real life reached out. they checked in, asked if I was okay, stayed in my DMs, and refused to let me disappear quietly.
some of them didn’t have the right words. Some just kept talking. Some simply stayed present. and somehow, that human connection, imperfect as it was, pulled me back.
that night didn’t magically fix my life. I didn’t suddenly heal or become positive. I just stayed alive. and sometimes, that’s enough for that moment.
seeing the news about Lazywrita hurts because I recognize that place he was in. that deep tiredness. that silence. that feeling of carrying too much while still showing up online like everything is fine.
a lot of people don’t actually want to die; they just want the pain in their head to stop. and when you’ve been strong for too long, even breathing can start to feel like work.
i’m grateful I stayed. not because life became perfect, but because I’ve experienced moments I would have missed. laughter I didn’t think I’d feel again. growth that came slowly, quietly, over time.
if you’re reading this and you’re not okay, please know that your thoughts are not always telling you the truth. pain has a way of making you believe there’s no future, even when there is.
you don’t have to have everything figured out. you don’t have to be strong today. you just have to stay. reach out to someone. say something, even if it comes out messy. let someone interrupt the spiral.
i’m still here because a few people chose to care instead of scrolling past. i’ll never forget that.
rest in peace, Lazywrita. and to anyone silently struggling, your story is not over. please stay. 🤍
love, frey!
I’ve been seeing tweets linking depression to mere feelings you converse away with friends. Please hear me out. As someone that battled clinical depression for years, suic1de from depression is beyond feeling sad or down.
Clinical depression is a diagnosable medical condition that occurs when the brain chemicals responsible for mood, motivation and focus are affected. It literally produces real physical symptoms.
Depression can mimic other illnesses, which is why many people undergo repeated medical tests or even tag it as spiritual problems in Nigeria before it is identified. If you have the following Symptoms and have done countless organ tests that are okay, please visit a specialist for proper diagnosis:
⁃ extreme fatigue
⁃ muscle spasms
⁃ headaches
- chest tightness
- tunnel vision
- brain fog
- memory impairment
- reduced concentration
- Insomnia
- appetite changes
- gastrointestinal issues like acid reflux
- chronic pain
- persistent heaviness in the body.
When both the brain and body are affected over time, day to day functioning becomes harder. This is why depression should be approached as a medical condition that requires appropriate care from professionals and not just a feeling you do away with after conversing with friends. Ignore the stigma and seek help.
It takes so much work and dedication, but with the right life style changes and help from licensed professionals, you can conquer it.
Passing the phone to the girlie who lost her spark this year. Who can’t remember the last time she actually felt like herself, whole, sane, thriving. I know it must feel so difficult, having to carrying on with a huge piece of you missing. You won’t have to for much longer. That missing piece? She’s coming back to you. And when she returns, she’d be so much better than you remember.
Your laughter will run deep and echo fully again. Your heart will feel light again. Your soul will find bliss again. Your lips will sing once more. And your mind will experience peace like never before. Hold on now, the stars are beginning to align🫶🏼
