Today we celebrate baseball pioneer Mamie ‘Peanut’ Johnson. Johnson was the first woman to pitch in the Negro Leagues.
In three seasons as a pitcher with the Indianapolis Clowns, from 1953-55, Johnson posted a 33-8 record as well as a .270 batting average.
