Even if foreigners are not the main source of violent crime, immigration still affects hospitals, schools, housing, informal trade, wages, drugs, and policing capacity.
Of course, South Africans make up most prisoners. South Africans are the overwhelming majority of the population. Prison statistic alone does not settle the debate about the IMPACT of undocumented immigration.
Undocumented people are harder to track
If foreign nationals were the primary driver of South Africa’s high crime rates, that reality would be reflected in our correctional facilities. However, the national data shows the exact opposite. Julius Malema is right, out of the 166,000+- inmates currently held in South African prisons, approximately 87.6% are South African citizens. Foreign nationals make up only about 15% of the total inmate population including both sentenced prisoners and those awaiting trial.
Some undocumented migrants avoid formal systems,
use fake identities,
disappear after arrest,
or are undercounted statistically
Prison numbers do not fully reflect the scale of undocumented activity
@the_nativesson@bourby3@DAMIADENUGA Lol you can never put hygiene and Nigeria in the same sentence
You are a nation of drug dealers, scammers, manipulators, human traffickers, and unhygienic, of course.
Every country you go to complains about you.
No 1 is jealous of you, you are unruly, and you ruin communities
