Listen. I know as a lifelong Kansan that Kansas has a bad habit of perpetually being 10+ years behind but this is insane to regress this far.

Kansas originally had 5 income tax brackets with the top only applying to income over $250,000 per year. Now we are debating going to a single rate. The “flat tax” is regressive. A billionaire shouldn’t pay the same rate as someone in poverty.

Kansas committee chairs will tell folks they agree with weeks in advance about a bill hearing & then tell the public at the last minute. A legislator (Sen. Steffen) explicitly said that this is to stop members of the public they disagree with from being able to testify.
