Couldn’t retweet this enough if I tried!! AA does not work for me, but does for thousands of others. Recovery is recovery, regardless of method. Kindness speaks
#RecoveryPosse, some here seem to insist on holding the struggling and newly sober to their own strict standards, often based in AA. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE AA. It works for me. But, people here aren't necessarily in AA. Can't we just help, support, encourage, and not judge?
@mentalmidget20 It goes to just what’s the quickest way to slience your pain, we both know it’s drink/drugs do that. Learning to ignore that is power, which is what you have
@ASoberLady Hi my name is Kara and I’m an alcoholic. Kinda hate saying this now, I’ve turned away from AA as it hasn’t helped me, although helped many others. I’ve found another path. Yet still saying that sentence gives me a kinda freedom and a weight lifted
The beginning is always the hardest most trying time, I’ve gotten through it before but each time the feelings of hopelessness get worse. My addiction, wants to kill me. Addictions want to kill.
The addictions starting to rear it’s ugly head “it’s your fault your sad, you might as well have a drink” “you’d feel better” Nice to recognise these for what they are, praying to battle through.
This time last week I was drinking, about to lose everything. This week, I’ve hopefully just smashed a job interview and starting to get my life back on track
I wish I was better at letting people in. I have such a bad habit of pushing people away and keeping everyone at a distance when in reality what I really need is to feel loved and to know that I’m not dealing with it all on my own
