Between 1979–2019, top pay (90th pct.) rose 53%, middle rose 23%, bottom (10th pct.) rose 17%. (Hourly productivity climbed 73%.)
Since 2019, gains at the bottom reversed 1/3 of this rise in pay inequality. But much more needs to be done!

@workertenant Both Our Revolution and the Working Families Party have dues-paying membership, locals, and regular events?
I don't take "mailing list" estimates -- the number I estimate (contributions divided by average dues rate) is very similar to historic estimates of IWW & other mass orgs.
@mark9191717 I don't understand your critique
Every past mass membership socialist group has based its membership statistics on dues payments
SPA, IWW, CPUSA, DSA all based on dues payments
What's the alternative?
@ellonico Check the subtitle! :)
Leftist here means socdems, socialists, communists, anarchists
For "socdem" I tried to include only orgs that were (anti-capitalist or explicitly critiqued "capitalism") & (worked alongside socialists) -- such as CPUSA pop front orgs or Our Revolution
@ArmandDoma Neither CA or NY is governed by progressives, but all Dem states should follow the evidence on education.
Phonics works, holding failing students back works, additional years of schooling works.
Ideally states should strip education from locals and set up a technocrat board.
@xwanyex Christ dude, shut up
Low income causes crime mostly through more adverse child experiences & fewer good (from neighborhood quality, resource constraints, etc.), which builds an adult
You'd expect small results in a population of highly risk-taking adults
@Cenizo75848 Gender identity, like sexuality, is a very-low malleability trait. People are "stuck" in their identity.
Why should we force people to identify as their (relatively malleable) body over their (relatively non-malleable) mind?
@Cenizo75848 Problem: Gender identity is NOT very malleable.
- Neither therapy or same-sex hormones revert cross-sex gender identity.
- The vast majority(>95%) of people in any identity (including those in cross-sex identities) remain in the same identity 20 or 40 years later.
@krichard121212@VexedVortices@Allodoxaa (To do this 1000-person random sortition by gene variant would require a 100% coverage gene database, but you probably need that to achieve high-quality germline editing anyway, since it lets you avoid selection effects.
Some major privacy concerns, obvs.)
@krichard121212@VexedVortices@Allodoxaa I've argued that we might be able to avoid abuses via hypermajority sortition:
For any gene in question, the state assembles a panel of 1000 people with that gene variant, prompts debate & discussion w/ medical experts on call, and if >80% vote yes, the gene may be removed.
