The social issue that is important to me is the #HeForShe. It’s a organization motivated in spreading gender equality & calling on men to support women. I would join this movement, because it’s actions are something I want to achieve. Spreading equality. #Soca1017D2#SocialChange
For intense, in the medical field, I feel as if you will always need a doctor to monitor the procedures. In many ways, I believe automation will contribute to the creation of new jobs. However, I also believe that certain human workers and their jobs will be replaced.
Socially, automation has impacted the way we communicate/interact with each other. In this way, some workers have lost the ability to do their jobs due to the advances in automation. In my opinion, I don't think that all jobs will be automated...

This meme relates to this weeks reading because it emphasizes the importance of voting. Everyone deserves their own voice. #Soca1017D2#SocialInstitutions
Society today is already existing without clear-cut categories of “female/male”. More & more people are expressing their different gender identities & are openly discussing their sexuality. However, I still believe there will always be a divide. #Soca1017D4#ConstructingGender
On the 2020 Census, I would indicate my race as White (Dutch). I know this because my family researched our genealogy. I do agree with the wording of the new census, because it allows the “etc.” option. However, some people may not know their ethnicity. #Soca1017D2#RaceEthnicity
A society w/out social stratification could exist; however, I believe it would cause a lot of conflict even with the benefit that we would all be considered equal. This could cause people to feel unappreciated & except higher pay/rewards. #Soca1017D2#ClasslessSociety
Cyberbullying, or bullying in general, will always happen. The only way, in my opinion, that cyberbullying could decrease would be if society followed the golden rule: "Treat people as you would want to be treated." And as Ellen Degeneres always says, "be kind to one another".
I have not been a victim of cyberbullying/doxing. However, I don't necessarily believe that cyberbullying should be a crime, but I do think that there should be serious consequences if the act caused a fatal outcome for the targeted individual. #Soca1017D2#OnlineDeviance
This article emphasizes the increase in vaping, especially in teens. This issue relates to the readings in that, vaping has caused such a social influence on young adults that they've conformed because they believed that was the "cool" thing to do. #Soca1017D2#LifeInGroups
Charles Cooley’s theory suggests that we imagine how we look to others, how others judge us, & the feelings we get from their perception of us. This meme illustrates his theory by expressing how we alter our appearance to get a certain response from others. #Soca1017D2#TheSelf

Kia’s Super Bowl ad illustrated the value of self-reliance. Josh Jacobs told his younger self, “to be tougher than the world around you” and to “believe in yourself”. Which depicts the message to never give up & work hard for what you want in life. #Soca1017D2#ConsumerCulture
@MaeveSchlichti1 I also got that article from BBC! I found that article to be very interesting after reading it for more information. I agree that the top stories tend to be something popular in our #filterbubbles, and that you have to continue researching to find the most reliable sources.
@BeerySpencer I like that you included different search engines! I think it’s interesting how we all have different stories and news articles that appear according to our particular #filterbubbles. It also appears that no matter what search engine you use, NASA is a popular result.
In my case, the general concept and definition appeared, as well as sources from NASA. However, the news articles highlighted to, “stop using the worst-case scenario.” Which emphasized the importance of how unlikely this scenario is to occur. #Soca1017D2#filterbubbles
For the most part, attending college was my decision. Yes, my parents and I always discussed college growing up, but they never made that decision for me. Attending college gives me so many opportunities/experiences for my future. #Soca1017D2#SocRealWorld
