Civil wars don’t start with ideology.
They start with ungrieved loss.
When people can’t be known over time, every interaction becomes a test, every mistake permanent, every difference a threat.
Grief with no recurrence turns neighbors into enemies.
This is the legacy Jon Stewart left during the late 2000s daily show. In his case he got away with it by saying "I'm just a comedian" but clearly most left-wing discourse has developed into the ironic eye-roll instead of any substantive engagement with opposing view points. It's a panopticon of puerile justifications which supports the bougie morality of the people who don't have deal with the downstream consequences of rule-by-quip.
@ChristianHeiens That implies there's a persona capable of feeling humiliated. They are merely corrections officers who specifically prevent change at all costs.
The fundamental reality that no one wants to accept is that Americans want this country to die. All of us. We dress it up in whatever ideology or schizo ramblings or ironic detachment we like, but fundamentally every single level of the country is fucking this thing up. From Trump to the homeless; from Nazis to Commies; from Tim Dillon to your tone-deaf reply. Every single person here wakes up every morning and makes this country worse in their own small way.
This country asks nothing of itself and will somehow be surprised when oblivion arrives to grant our wish.
@RepDwightEvans No they aren't. They form exclusive enclaves based on ethnicity. The only people advocating for that state of affairs would be looking to increase racial tensions in the country.
@Timcast Of course it's right, like you always say law doesn't exist. It's only what you can get away with, and this judge will face no repercussions for violating the foundational principle of the western legal tradition.
@JackPosobiec Not really, they're just advocating for their district's interests. It's not their fault that our economy is so dependent on government handouts that it'll entirely crash if we don't bomb rapists every couple years.
@megan_janas@WhiteHouse Listen, just because the only emotion you experience is seething rage doesn't mean we can't mourn and have fun at the same time. You are not the arbiter of my conscience.
