A good AI feature should reduce uncertainty for the user, not merely produce an impressive paragraph. I’m paying more attention to what happens after the answer.
I made a paper prototype before touching the code, and it exposed a boring mechanic in five minutes. Cardboard remains an unfairly powerful development tool.
Today’s build question: can a player understand the goal before the tutorial starts explaining it? I’m testing the first ten seconds more seriously than the tenth feature.
My new game has reached the stage where one tiny rule change can make it feel clever—or quietly ruin the whole afternoon. Game design is such a polite form of chaos.
