Sometimes the things we value most aren't perfect. This little story is a reminder that the same can be true of people.
At the back of a kitchen cupboard sat an old cup. It wasn't particularly beautiful. Its colour had faded, the handle had been repaired, and a thin crack ran down one side.
Over the years, newer cups had appeared around it. Bright ones. Expensive ones. Perfect ones. Some became favourites for a while. Others were used a few times and eventually disappeared. But the old cup remained.
One morning, a visitor noticed it. “You've got so many nice cups,” she said. “Why do you still keep that one?”
The woman smiled and took it carefully from the cupboard. “My mother gave me this cup when I moved into my first home,” she said.
She remembered drinking from it on cold mornings before work. She remembered holding it between both hands during difficult conversations. She remembered cups of tea shared with people she loved.
It had been there through new beginnings, celebrations, ordinary afternoons and some of the hardest days of her life.
The visitor looked at the crack. “But it's broken.”
The woman smiled again. “A little. But that doesn't make it worthless.”
She placed the cup back in its usual spot.
We can be surprisingly good at seeing our own cracks. The mistakes we've made. The things we wish we could change. The ways life has marked us. And sometimes we convince ourselves that these imperfections somehow make us less worthy.
But the people who truly love us rarely see us that way. They see the memories. The laughter. The kindness. The difficult days we survived. The times we were there when they needed us. The life we've shared with them.
The old cup wasn't loved because it was perfect. It was loved because of everything it had been part of. And perhaps we should remember the same about ourselves.
You don't have to be perfect to be valuable. And you certainly don't have to be perfect to be loved.
Have a great day, and take care of yourself.

Islam is a Din of only ease and facilitation. To open the door of easiness and gentleness is only possible through love.
All the Prophetic teachings, commands, priorities and laws are premised on love, mercy, compassion, convenience and easiness. There is no room for radicalism in #Islam.
