8:15 PM... Smoke from #OakFire has finally established itself in the Truckee Meadows. As of 8 PM, air quality sensors are in the "Moderate" to "Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups" range. AQI remains "Unhealthy" across the eastern Sierra. Time to shut the windows & doors. #nvwx#cawx
Pretty incredible that we could briefly see the Pyrocumulus cloud from the #OakFire at our office here in northern Reno (middle part of first picture). The fire broke out this afternoon west of Yosemite in Mariposa county. We are approximately 120 north of the fire! #cawx#nvwx

Nevada has been leading the way on water conservation for decades, thanks to @SNWA_H2O's monumental work. It's time Western states along the Colorado River follow Nevada's lead and invest in stronger water conservation efforts.

Have you heard the buzz? 🐝 June 20-26 is #PollinatorWeek! 🦋
Help the bees, butterflies, and birds that are vital to our ecosystem with these pollinator-friendly (and water-smart!) native plants. 🧵
This Memorial Day, let us bow our heads in silence to remember and honor the sacrifices of hundreds of men and women who gave their lives for the country.

#ICYMI we recently launched "Going Green for Good Health," an initiative to plant more than 60,000 trees by 2050. 🌳
Our goal is to create more equity in tree coverage in our community by focusing on areas of the city most affected by the urban heat island.
Fun Fact: Water used indoors flows from your drain into the sewer system and travels to a wastewater treatment facility, where it is treated. This highly-treated wastewater is returned to the Colorado River via the Las Vegas Wash, which flows back into Lake Mead. #Conservation
🌳 Celebrate the 150th anniversary of #ArborDay by planting a desert-friendly tree to help cool our environment and clean our air and water. 🌴

Lake Mead has dropped to such a low level that Las Vegas water officials have turned on the “low lake level pumping station,” which allows Southern Nevada the potential to access water when other Southwest cities cannot.
