ঢাকা, ৩০ জুলাই ২০২৫: প্রধান উপদেষ্টা প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের সভাপতিত্বে আজ বুধবার স্বল্পোন্নত দেশ হতে উত্তরণের প্রস্তুতি বিষয়ক উচ্চ পর্যায়ের পর্যালোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। বুধবার বেলা ১১টায় রাজধানীর তেজগাঁওস্থ প্রধান উপদেষ্টার কার্যালয়ে এ সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

সভায় ১৬টি সিদ্ধান্তের অগ্রগতি বিষয়ে আলোচনা হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে জাতীয় রাজস্ব বোর্ড (এনবিআর) চারটি, শিল্প মন্ত্রণালয় তিনটি, অর্থনৈতিক সম্পর্ক বিভাগ দুটি, বাণিজ্য মন্ত্রণালয় তিনটি ও প্রধান উপদেষ্টার কার্যালয় চারটি সিদ্ধান্ত বাস্তবায়নে কাজ করছে।

এনবিআর চেয়ারম্যান মো. আব্দুর রহমান খান জানান, এনবিআর ন্যাশনাল সিঙ্গেল উইন্ডো-এর পূর্ণ বাস্তবায়নের জন্য কাজ করছে। ইতোমধ্যে ১৯টি সংস্থা যুক্ত হয়েছে। আরও সংস্থাকে যুক্ত করা হচ্ছে। এর পাশাপাশি, ট্যারিফ পলিসি ২০২৩ এর বাস্তবায়ন কর্মপরিকল্পনা প্রণয়ন ও বাস্তবায়ন অগ্রগতি সম্পর্কে প্রধান উপদেষ্টাকে অবহিত করেন তিনি।

আজকের সভায় তৈরি পোশাক শিল্পের ন্যায় অন্যান্য রপ্তানি খাতে প্রয়োজনীয় সহযোগিতা ও প্রণোদনা প্রদান এবং ম্যান মেইড ফাইবার সম্পর্কিত কাচামাল ও এ শিল্পের মেশিনারিজ আমদানিতে শুল্কমুক্ত সুবিধা প্রদান বিষয়েও আলোচনা হয়েছে।

সাভারে অবস্থিত টানারি ভিলেজে স্থাপিত ইফ্লুয়েন্ট ট্রিটমেন্ট প্লান্ট (ইটিপি) পূর্ণমাত্রায় চালু করা, মুন্সিগঞ্জের গজারিয়ায় বাস্তবায়নাধীন এপিআই পার্ক পূর্ণমাত্রায় চালু করা ও ২০২২ সালে প্রণীত শিল্প নীতি হালনাগাদকরণে কী কী ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হয়েছে এ বিষয়ে আজকের সভায় আলোচনা হয়েছে।

প্রধান উপদেষ্টা বলেন, ‘দেশের চামড়া শিল্পের ব্যাপারে আমরা অপরাধ করেছি, এটার সঠিক মূল্যয়ন করিনি। এই শিল্প দিয়ে আমাদের অর্থনৈতিকভাবে লাভবান হওয়ার কথা ছিল, কিন্তু সেটা হয়নি।’

এসময় চামড়া শিল্পের সংকট সমাধানে করণীয় সম্পর্কিত একটি পৃথক বৈঠক আয়োজনের জন্য নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন প্রধান উপদেষ্টা।
এর পাশাপাশি, আগামী দুই মাসের মধ্যে এলডিসি থেকে উত্তরণের জন্য করণীয় সম্পর্কে পরবর্তী বৈঠক আয়োজনের নির্দেশ দেন তিনি।

প্রধান উপদেষ্টা বলেন, ‘আমাদের নিজেদের স্বার্থে, নিজেদের অর্থনীতির স্বার্থে এই কাজগুলো করে যেতে হবে। যেসব নীতিমালা-আইন কোনো কাজে আসছে না সেগুলো পরিবর্তন করে সামনের দিকে অগ্রসর হওয়ার পথ বের করতে হবে। এগুলো মৌলিক বিষয়। নিজেদের উত্তরণের জন্যই এ কাজগুলো আমাদের করে যেতে হবে।’

আজকের সভায় অর্থ উপদেষ্টা ড. সালেহউদ্দিন আহমেদ, শিল্প উপদেষ্টা আদিলুর রহমান খান, পরিবেশ উপদেষ্টা সৈয়দা রিজওয়ানা হাসান, নৌ-পরিবহন উপদেষ্টা এম সাখাওয়াত হোসেন, স্বাস্থ্য উপদেষ্টা নূরজাহান বেগম, মন্ত্রিপরিষদ সচিব শেখ আব্দুর রশিদ, প্রধান উপদেষ্টার মুখ্য সচিব এম সিরাজ উদ্দিন মিয়া, এনবিআর চেয়ারম্যান মো. আব্দুর রহমান খান, বাংলাদেশ ব্যাংকের গভর্নর আহসান এইচ মনসুরসহ বিভিন্ন মন্ত্রণালয়ের সচিবগণ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

US expresses support for the government's reform agenda

Dhaka, April 17, 2025: A visiting US delegation called on the Chief Adviser on Thursday and expressed support for the reform agenda of the Interim Government. They also discussed regional issues of peace, security, and development.

The delegation includes Deputy Assistant Secretaries of State Nicole A. Chulick and Andrew Herrup.

Bangladesh’s National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman, the head of US mission in Dhaka Tracey Ann Jacobson were present at the meeting.

The US officials expressed deep appreciation for the generosity of Bangladesh by hosting 1.2 million Rohingyas and thanked the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus for making progress on this issue.

The Chief Adviser termed the recent identification by Myanmar government of 180,000 Rohingyas as fit for return to Rakhine as an important progress.

"We appreciate your vision of looking at the Rohingya issue not in isolation but in the context of Myanmar as a whole," said Chulick.

The US officials also appreciated the Chief Adviser’s approach to enhance regional cooperation, connectivity, and people-to-people contacts.

The Chief Adviser underlined the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and reaffirmed the commitment of the interim government to work closely with the Trump administration on the entire range of bilateral relations. He thanked the US President Donald J. Trump for resuming aid for the Rohingyas and ninety-day pause in the application of reciprocal tariffs. "We are continuing our work to support his trade agenda," he said.

Chief Adviser calls for stronger ties with Pakistan

Dhaka, April 17, 2025: Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Thursday put the emphasis on strengthening ties with Pakistan to boost mutual cooperation and explore trade and business potentials.

The Chief Adviser made the call when Pakistani foreign secretary Amna Baloch called on him at the State Guest House Jamuna.

“There are certain hurdles. We have to find ways to overcome those and move forward,” the Chief Adviser told Baloch, who led the Pakistani side in the Foreign Secretary level bilateral consultations between the two countries in 15 years.

Referring to the past, Baloch said Bangladesh and Pakistan must find ways to “harness the potentials between the two countries.”

“We have huge intra regional markets on our own rights. We should use it,” Baloch said. “ "We can’t miss the bus every time.”

She said that there is a need for a regular B2B ( business to business) interaction between the private sectors of two countries and exchange visits at all levels.

In January 2025, a delegation of the Pakistan's apex business chamber FPCCI visited Bangladesh and signed an MoU with the FBCCI.

The Pakistan foreign secretary hoped that the upcoming visit of the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar at the end of April would further strengthen relations between the two countries.

The Chief Adviser said he always preferred closer ties with neighboring countries, including Pakistan, in the framework of SAARC.

He said that Bangladesh and Pakistan should exchange more youth and cultural programs between the two countries to increase the people-to-people bonding.

“We kept missing each other for a long time as our relationship was frozen. We have to overcome the barriers,” he said.

The Chief Adviser recalled his meeting with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in New York on the sidelines of the UNGA in September 2024 and in Cairo on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit in December 2024, saying that they were key in making progress in bilateral relations.

He said that Bangladesh and Pakistan will continue to work closely at multilateral and regional forums like SAARC, OIC, and D-8.

Today, Pakistan's Foreign Secretary arrived in Bangladesh. On the very same day, Bangladesh announced its intention to reclaim the $4.52 billion owed by Pakistan since before independence.

Bangladesh has played this game quite strategically. It is knows that Pakistan is unlikely — or even unable — to repay that amount. Yet, by bringing it up in discussions, Bangladesh aims to use it as leverage in negotiations — whether it's for duty-free exports to Pakistan, use of their ports, or securing other economic or diplomatic benefits.

This is a brilliant move by Bangladesh.
