Angola and Brazil are negotiating an agreement covering up to 800,000 hectares of Angolan farmland for Brazilian-led agricultural projects, as Luanda seeks to reduce dependence on oil.

Under a proposed financing structure, Brazil's BNDES would provide 45 percent of funding, BB Proex 23 percent, Angola's Development Bank 5 percent, its Sovereign Wealth Fund 17 percent, and producers 10 percent. Angola's Agriculture Minister Isaac dos Anjos said the land had been identified for surveying, while China separately pursues its own agricultural projects in the country.
