That chart is June 2026 year over year. Private-sector proxies barely moved. Public admin, health and education did the growing. Ottawa still talks like that is a healthy labour market.

It is not new. From 2015 to 2025 public-sector employment grew about 29 percent. The rest of the workforce grew about 15. The public share of jobs went from roughly one in five to higher than that, and a third of the net new jobs since 2015 came from the government side.

Here is the part that should worry you. Those public paycheques are paid by the private ones. When the tax base crawls and the payroll that spends the money keeps expanding, you do not have a boom. You have a country hiring itself and calling it growth.

As Ron said, We cannot all work for the government.

The country that tries ends up with more offices, weaker shops, and a bill that still lands on the kitchen table.

Canada should be one of the wealthiest countries on earth. We got off track. Jim Thorne’s read on Carney is even sharper: take him off the business file and he starts playing politician. You hear the talking points, and common sense is sitting on the other side of the table.

He is not asking for another slogan. He wants Ottawa to stop treating “the deal” like the whole job and start forcing the structural work this country has been postponing for years. Develop the Ring of Fire. Build the mines. Build the pipelines. Stop living in the planning-and-presentation phase.

Ford can talk about the Ring of Fire all he wants. A road is not a mine. Pour money in tomorrow and you are still looking at five to ten years. That is the part the press conference never says out loud. Resources are our advantage, and we have spent a decade acting like a PowerPoint is the same thing as production.

We do not need another honest conversation that happens slowly. We need someone in charge who treats delay like the cost it actually is.

It jumps a little more.

Fill a minivan.
You are looking at
about seven bucks
more in tax.

Closer to eleven.

Diesel going back up
does not stay at the pump.
It shows up in freight.
Groceries.
Lumber.
Everything on a truck.

They sold this as
taking care of Canadians.

Then they put a calendar
on the help.

If families are still
getting squeezed,
why does the tax
get to come home
on schedule?

BREAKING: it is now being reported that Doug Ford is responsible for a veto on the trade deal we had with the US.

Mark Carney liked the deal and was ready to accept it, but Doug Ford refused to put US alcohol back on the shelves as long as there is tariffs on vehicles.

Why? Bloomberg reported that whether there was a 8%, 50%, or 100% tariffs on vehicles, there would be no business case for Stellantis to remain in Canada.

Our government never told us any of this.
