When it comes to cultural differences, I've always been curious why people in the west tend to take my words as 'anger'.

I wonder if sadness, bewilderment, or a dialogue for mutual understanding are seen as 'weakness' in their world?

It's also a bit hard for me to digest when people view 'being humble' as 'lack of confidence' or 'self loathing'.

In our (Japanese) society, modesty comes from respect for others and the sense of responsibility to maintain standards.
