Som-Japan 🇯🇵🇸🇴 Alumni Network held its 2nd annual Iftar, bringing together alumni who studied in Japan through MEXT, JICA, and the Joint Japan/World Bank Scholarship Program.
A meaningful evening of reunion, reflection, and stronger diplomatic ties between Somalia and Japan.

For the second year in a row, the @SomJapanAlumni held its annual Iftar in Mogadishu. A reunion of alumni who studied in Japan through @mextjapan, @jica_direct_en, & the Joint Japan–World Bank Scholarship, and a chance to promote these opportunities to Somali students.

At the Iftar gathering held on March 26, 2025, in Mogadishu, @SomJapanAlumni members unanimously appointed @FarhiaDiinii as the new Chairperson of the Alumni Network.
Farhia is a @jica_direct_en alumna (2022–2024) and holds an MSc in Development Economics from @ritsumeikanapu.

We will be hosting an information-sharing session facilitated by Abdikarim Ali Yusuf, a recipient of the MEXT Scholarship 2024, on Wednesday, 7 May 2025 (Somalia time).
