We drift from what is important. There is something in each of us that is prone to take the easier route, to forget our priorities, and slowly forget our commitments. Often, and especially when it comes to our faith, this drift happens in very subtle ways.
Churches drift, dwindle, and die unless they commit themselves to fight for something different. The fight - for gospel doctrine, character, and culture - is as important today as it has ever been, especially if our desire is to be a long-term disciple-making presence.
All Spring we’re looking at Paul’s letters to his proteges, Timothy and Titus, as he passes along his ministry to them.

In this odd season, don’t underestimate the power of slogging it out with Jesus, just taking the next step, and then the step after that. Jesus walked. Everywhere. His pace was about 3 miles/hour. If that kind of steadiness marked the Son of God, then it is good enough for us!
Whenever people made space for God’s presence, He fills it. It happened in the desert tabernacle, it happened with Solomon's Temple, and it happened in an upper room in Jerusalem with the first Christians.

Beginning this Sunday we’ll take 6 weeks to explore how real growth & change happen in our lives, and how we can make room for Jesus to do it. We’ll look at 2 Peter: 1:3-11 and hear stories from people experiencing the kind of change that only Jesus and his grace make possible.
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
We won’t be gathering on Sunday, December 27. Instead, take this opportunity to spend time with your family and community. We will resume gatherings on January 3rd.

Full-bodied faith is both intellectual and emotional, enlightening the mind and stirring the affections of the heart. We look at the emotion of heartbreak, considering how the pain and strain of our lives, our relationships, and our world brings about a deep and abiding sorrow.
It's easy to feel tired and thin, as Bilbo Baggins says, “like butter scraped over too much bread,” and the temptation is to isolate and numb ourselves on any number of easily accessible distractions, from too much sugar or alcohol to pornography or Netflix or binge social media.
We’re starting an Advent series this Sunday, and it is going to be unique.
What does faith in God’s Story feel like? What emotions does the Biblical storyline - Creation, Fall, and Redemption - invite us to discover?
We are not gathering tomorrow morning (Nov. 29) and I hope you find a way to use the time to serve a need in our city. If you don't already have something, I want to encourage you to sign up for one of our 3 options, happening 9am-noon: https://t.co/aGP9rLkkVO
